- divingmule - 2010-10-21 16:12 I was playing with hulu search last night and it is 'bad ass'. The off-site search very cool! It finds all of the hgtv shows, but they will not play and you get the 'please post a request for support' message. There have been request for a hgtv addon, if this was supported I'm sure it would make the hgtv fans happy. Another one I ran into was 'history' the history channel stuff, that would be cool to. +1 for saved search Awesome job with this. Hope you have a good time at hacker con
- aptalca - 2010-10-21 16:22 I agree, with dharma beta 3 fully supporting "seeking", this Hulu addon has become flawless and a must-have. I also would like to add my +1 request for hgtv Need to get this well kept secret out there... - puulima - 2010-10-21 16:58 BlueCop Wrote:If you would submit the issues that are important to you to the google code project then I can easily manage and not forget about the issue. I am usually on some kind of bender so my memory doesn't work as well in those situations. I try to be responsive on the forum but I often forget things people report here. It is just so much easier to have a easy list to refer to. I think the off-Hulu search is phenomenal...just like this add-on, a god-send for adding TV to XBMC and finding stuff quickly and easily. And I saw somewhere in your thread that you or someone else was able to find all sorts of "related" content that was out there but not easily found...same here. I think the real issue is that this add-on collection isn't out in front of everyone...I didn't find it easily, I recall stumbling on the thread once a ways back, but honestly (and I don't mean to sound critical) the sub-forum it's posted in isn't what I'd call "mainstream" for what most users look at - nor does the Thread title clearly identify what the add-ons do. After trying different routes to get Boxee to integrate/start from XBMC I was "pointed" to this thread...and in minutes I was up and running and in awe. If this was posted to the "XBMC Tips, Tricks, and HOW-TO (Step-by-Step Guides)" forum - with a Thread title and introduction that clearly identified what these add-ons will do - I'm betting you'd get a lot more users kicking the tires. The streaming TV is one of Boxee's big claims to fame and frankly the only reason I used Boxee - but now I don't have to (well do need to figure out the Favourites snag - what debug logs and/or anything else do you need to look into that?) I really think this should and can be a huge enhancement for XBMC - just needs to be out in front so folks can find it. Given the changes/enhancements that you've made - would probably be better to CLOSE this thread, redirect users to a NEW one with the latest/greatest info / instuctions / FAQ's and perhaps some screencaps to get their attention (presentation is everything right?). I'd be up for helping craft that - haven't tested all of the add-ons out though and may not fully be aware of all the ins & outs of what they can do...but let me know. Also - I'd be willing and happy to assist in testing whenever you have new stuff written. Haven't done any programming myself in years...but have been playing around with some scripting and with the AutoHotKey software a bit. Certainly always like to learn new things so any way I can help, let me know. I'm based in Canada also (so use a VPN for the US stuff) so could test out any proxy/vpn related options/stuff if needed. Let me know your thoughts...would love to help in any way I can. And let me know what you need on the debug logs to look at the favourites issue. Last note: nothing shows as far as "lengths" for the off-hulu search results - here's what the screen looks like:
- BlueCop - 2010-10-21 18:47 I prefer not to promote them. The orginal hulu plug-in was covered on lifehacker and engadget. This prompted a large influx of users but also got plenty of attention from hulu. They implemented encryption layers and road blocks specificly to stop the plug-in. I honestly don't care about the number of people using them. I make them available with the least amount of promotion I can. It's not that I don't want people using them. I prefer they be found rather then promoted. I hate advertising and spamming in most any form. Posting around about plug-ins I make feels masturbation/marketing. This might sound crazy and there is a good chance it is. The last thing I want is attention because that seems to just cause problems. This is a catch22 though because I like feedback on features. In the end it comes from me being selfish and wanting them to remain functional for the longest period possible. The content providers don't like us and will stop us however they can because they want control over the playback enviroment. So more users in my mind equals more head aches, more hoops to jump through to get playback urls, and generally more cat and mouse like behavior. I hope that makes sense because I am not sure it does. I am good at bullshiting myself with rationalizations for being lazy. I always liked homes and gardens but never watched them on tv. I will see what i can do for a playback module for it soon because they are pretty easy. - puulima - 2010-10-21 21:29 BlueCop Wrote:This is a catch22 though because I like feedback on features. Will post something noting the challenges I ran into - but what log do you need for the Favourites issue? - cdlenfert - 2010-10-22 00:50 I've got the hulu plugin working on Mac XBMC and XBMC4XBOX. It's amazing. I've looked through the thread and have seen there are currently issues with the queue. With so many show's on the site it's pretty tedious to navigate all the way to one show. Is there a way to make Favorites work in XBMC or any progress on activating the queue? In the mean time I've found a detailed search term goes a long way in speeding up show access. - BlueCop - 2010-10-22 01:12 cdlenfert Wrote:Am I missing something or is this option not available? No and Yes. I will commit the queue subscription code I have done this weekend. Getting the special token is broken in python and it is required to access your queue I will try to document how you can extract the token from hulu desktop. The code I wrote to get the special token never wanted to work in python. It makes the correct urls because I can use them in a web browser to get the token. Maybe someone else can solve the problem. I haven't looked at it in a while. - cdlenfert - 2010-10-22 01:15 Thanks for the reply. So if we manually find our own token we can edit some files and gain access? Is that the yes part?
- BlueCop - 2010-10-22 01:18 You asked 2 questions. No you aren't missing anything. Yes the option is not currently available. Buffer problems - jbetzer - 2010-10-22 10:40 Hi there First of all, good job, very nice repository ![]() I recently went from Win7 with XBMC Dharma2 to Ubuntu 10.04 also with Dharma2 (Atm Dharma3) on my MCE. And after this I have encountered a problem with both The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. After the OS switch the video streams takes a very long time to load and keeps pausing and rebuffering, this happens every 30 sec or so, but the wierd thing is that both Add-ons worked flawlessly in Win7, so I am guessing connection issues, but being a bit a Linux newbie I am not sure of this. I have tried changing the bitrate manually but the problem persists. I dont have a log atm but can post one if needed, but someone out there might have an idea of what I can do to get rid of this problem, because both addons are unusable at the moment :'( |
