Plugins disabled? - Johey - 2010-08-22

I installed xbmc via ppa:team-xbmc-svn/ppa. Now I cannot find how to install a plugin. Putting them in ~/.xbmc/plugins/video for example, does not work. They simply don't show up. Neither is there a Video plugin option when I use Video->Add source->Browse.

Why is that and how can I fix it?

The New version of XBMC(aka Dharma) uses a different format for scripts and plugins(now called Addons). Many have been converted over. Most probably not yet. There are many addons available from the Official Repo(accessable through Settings->Add-ons->Get Add-ons.

There are also Unofficial Repos:

As well as a few available through the forums(easily installable from Settings->Add-ons->Install From Zip)

If you don't find a former plugin/script that you use, post a message in the forum below:

Thanks!

Maybe the official wiki should be updated with this information, so people like me don't think of buying a better computer in hope of fixing the problem. Smile

Is there any documentation on how to convert a plugin to an addon? Is it about a total recreation/refactoring or is it just like adding some initializing function?
