Hi muellie

This is what I did a few days back. It should be correct. Not that I know what I'm doing. Smile

Step 1
Got the crystalhd-for-osx-2.0.0.zip from http://code.google.com/p/crystalhd-for-osx/downloads/list

Or you can try 2.0.1.zip which is the latest I guess, but I've not tried it.

Step 2
Unpacked the zip file and copied the files to Apple TV's /tmp directory. I used Cyberduck for this.

Step 3
Opened terminal and did the following:

Code:
ssh [email protected]
sudo mount -uw /
sudo touch /.readwrite
sudo sync
cd /tmp

sudo cp -r BroadcomCrystalHD.kext /System/Library/Extensions/
sudo -S chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/BroadcomCrystalHD.kext
sudo -S chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/BroadcomCrystalHD.kext

sudo cp libcrystalhd.dylib /usr/lib/
sudo chmod 755 /usr/lib/libcrystalhd.dylib

sudo cp bcm70012fw.bin /usr/lib/
sudo cp bcm70015fw.bin /usr/lib/

Step 4
Update XBMC with latest nightly by adding the installer to Launcher using the following:

Code:
defaults write com.teamxbmc.xbmclauncher XBMCAdditionalDownloadPlistURLs -array-add http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/osx/update_urls.plist

Step 5
Reboot. And done! Smile

Actually, after I got my CrystalHD option to work in XBMC the other day, I still couldn't play any 1080p files. It hanged the ATV. Could hear some audio and see a few frames of video. But that's it. I couldn't even exit the movie. Had to always reboot.

I just only downloaded and installed XBMC r33004 via launcher, and finally it played smoothly (thanks to the guys of course). I was trying out Iron Man 2 trailer. Remember to reboot after install though.

Hope this is what you're looking for.

Wow, I just switched my installed BCM70012 with my new BCM70015, upgraded to crystalhd-for-osx-2.0.1 (r145) and XBMC r33004 and watched two 720p MKVs...without a glitch. Haven't checked 1080p yet, but I'm sure it'll be awesome :-)

Kudos to Davilla and everybody else involved, thank you so much for your great work and effort, it's much appreciated. And if I ever get near any of you guys, beer is on me!

Best,
Randy.

How's it going for you? I upgraded to 33035 today, but sadly, it's freezing up ATV during 1080p playback like the previous version before 33004. Any problems you encountered?

not very smooth today - muelli - 2010-08-22

hello davilla and forum,

today i upgraded to lastest night build, which works now.
but, what should i say, not very smoothly. the movie is playing like no crystal card build in.

davilla,
could you please post what you need and where i can find your needed information? a small tut how to collect the needed informations for debuging for your team?

this will help to make "good" posts with all debug information needed.
by the way, could you please post a donation link or something?

regards

muelli

PS: how the hell could i upload my logs? or where....? i think upload will be better than copy&pasting hole logs to the post....

We already have many sticky threads and guides about what we need, anymore is thread spew.

The front page http://www.xbmc.org has a donation link as does crystalhd-for-osx.

was trying to watch this wrc event this morning and it's crashed xbmc and restarted my atv twice... i could get about 10 minutes through each time before the atv would restart. these files would play fine on the 31XXX and prior builds...

watched a couple 720 movies last night with super minor stutter... quick 1/2 second pause every 20 minutes or so...

ATV-OS
svn: 33004
crystalhd 2.0.1
old style broadcom card

console log (dated the 15th for some reason): http://pastebin.com/TK2STiUk
Crash log (january of this year?): http://pastebin.com/sZMTZej1

crashreport.log appends, so you have to look at the end. It helps to delete this periodically. I see a frontrow, two perian and an XBMC crash using a very old version.

please try the crystalhd-for-osx-test1.zip version.

I'm grabbing day 2 right now of the wrc event, so I'll delete the crashreport.log and update to the test1 file and svn before i watch it...

i also had this same problem watching a revision3/hdnation 720p .mp4 video last week... it restarted my atv, but it was so late at night i just went to bed...

Hello all,

upgraded but no success:
Symtoms: video and sound not sync. I am not sure if it is my video, but the testvideo here

did not work also.
