Feature Request for Aeon MQ. TV Guide implementation like in Simplicity or Neon. This would make Aeon MQ the most complete skins ever !!

Hi Marcos,

I'm not sure if I am the only one, but since I have an Apple TV 2 in my mix I have converted to the nightly builds on all my systems here. I wanted to know if you had any plans on developing a version of MQ2 that is compatible with the nightlies.

I will say your current version is still stable enough to function, but a lot of the background features have changed enough to affect skins. For example, the recentlyadded.py script no longer works (probably not even your fault) but stuff like library counts is also broken, among other category-based functions.

Knowing your diligence, you are already aware, and I imagine this is a nightmare for skin authors, on whether to develop the Dharma version or branch off with a new version for the next XBMC.

Anyway, just curious if you had given it any thought. If you do start posting versions for the nightly builds, you've got a willing tester right here.

Thanks!

cydine Wrote:Couple of quick mods I made to the skin for anyone that may be interested:

Mod to home.xml to show TV fanart when scrolling through the recently added widget on the homepage; the same way movie fanart is displayed.

Mod to DialogVideoInfo.xml to correctly show UK ratings in the video info window. Can also post the modified IMDB and TMDB scrapers which pick up UK ratings instead of MPAA if anyone is interested.

Thanks cydine!

Marcos, could you add these to your build please.

Thanks!

shawndavid Wrote:Guess I'm confused here. Is there not a way to add another disc type with cover? Much like BD versus HDDVD versus HDTV.

There seems to be another cover for the BluRay 3D that is being used... take a look at Despicable Me as an example (on amazon). The BluRay3D logo is used in the wrapping cover.

That would be pretty cool to detect; if we used BD3D or BluRay3D in the tag or filename (either).

Think you have got 2 request confused here. Adding a different case for 3D BluRay movies is not an issue (Marcos is working on it) as long as it is the same dimensions of the existing cases.

The issue discussed above was regarding implementing a new view where the BluRay cases are similar to the dimensions of the BluRay cases you buy in the stores. This is just not practical as you would never be able to view a mixture of movies tagged as BluRay with any other types. On top of this you would have to manually scrape all your posters and this is also not pracatcal especially for people with large collections.

Hope this makes thing a little clearer.Big Grin

I'd be interested in the UK ratings being scraped, but would also prefer it if your modifications were upstreamed rather than forking the existing scrapers. It just becomes an update nightmare if you start to drift away from the mainline...

Without sounding rude, are you serious?

How can Marcos possibly maintain the skin to keep up with the nightly builds and continue to develop new features. Even without new development, testing all the skin features with the builds would take up most of the hours in the day, let alone making any necessary changes then re-testing and pushing out the updates.

On top of this the nightly builds tend to break things as they progress only to be fixed a few builds down the line. A prime example of this is that the views in file mode were broken about 2 weeks back only to be fixed 4 days later, this could have easily been deemed a skin issue but it was not.

Chippie,

A very valid point. You make me feel bad for even asking! No disrespect at all, just meant to show my love for this skin. So much so that I put it right in with the nightlies anyway Smile

It definitely makes it tough with a skin that's already under heavy development under the Dharma branch still, so I feel you, for sure. It would be different if Macros was done with Aeon MQ2 with Dharma and not adding features and making changes, but you're right, expecting new development on the Dharma version as well as a version for the nightlies is a lot.

I saw that they were keeping up in the Alaska thread with the nightlies, but they may have a lot more help or just not be doing any further development on the Dharma Alaska.

Is there any more news on getting Aeon MQ2 to work with the PVR addons?

I know someone posted a link once before on how to get the PVR addons to display but that was for Aeon65 and the same patch doesnt work for Aeon MQ2.

That would be nice.

OK, here are the scrapers as requested. Modded to pick up UK ratings only.

TMDB:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4959594/metadata.themoviedb.org/settings.xml
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4959594/metadata.themoviedb.org/tmdb.xml

IMDB:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4959594/metadata.imdb.com/imdb.xml

One issue is that there is currently no texture for the 12A cert so it shows as 12 in the video info window.

I believe there is already a ticket open for this, not just for UK but all int ratings. However I don't think it is much of a priority.

I believe Aeon already has textures built in to support UK, German and Australian ratings.

The devs must all live in the US Big Grin

Thanks, but where do I put these? There are 2 tvdb folders, one is metadata.themoviedb.org and the other is metadata.common.themoviedb.org.

Also i dont have metadata.imdb.com, only metadata.common.imdb.com, i presume i put it in this instead but just want to check

- cydine - 2011-03-30

You will first have to install the IMDB scraper via addons. This will create the metadata.imdb.com folder. Then replace the imdb.xml in there with the new one.

TMDB files go in metadata.themoviedb.org, replacing the two files there.

I use the IMDB scraper personally as the info is currently a lot more complete.
