RE: - aptalca - 2012-03-26 21:44 (2012-03-25 23:38)thadiyan Wrote: Mo, As far as I know, this plugin is for Windows only, as it modifies the windows registry keys to unbind the green button and others from windows specific actions like opening windows media center, remap certain keys, etc. That is probably why it is not showing up in openelec, because it is linux based, not windows. With regards to Eden, I already confirmed a couple posts up that this plugin works just fine in Eden (under win of course). If you already installed this (and used it) in an earlier build, there would be no need to do it again, since it already patched your registry. Just upgrade to Eden and you'll be good to go. XBMC upgrade won't touch your ehome driver/mce registry entries. The only way you could mess it up is if you somehow uninstalled the ehome remote driver and reinstalled it. In that case you would just rerun the MCE plugin. RE: [RELEASE] MCERemote Addon - MCE Remote Control Plugin for XBMC on Windows - bluenote - 2012-03-29 22:38 It seems like a new install of XBMC eden might treat an MCE-remote a little more sanely with a virgin registry unmodified by this plugin. Can anyone tell me if this is the case? My setup is such a hackjob (left overs from years past) with this plugin mods on top, and then harmony mods on top of that, that I yearn to wipe it all and start fresh. But only if the default behaviour is better than it used to be. Is it usable? I saw MCE remote buttons in keyboard.xml on the wiki.. Can anyone comment? RE: [RELEASE] MCERemote Addon - MCE Remote Control Plugin for XBMC on Windows - aptalca - 2012-03-30 07:10 well, the default behavior still sucks, for the one fact that a lot of the original buttons open up the annoying windows media center. other than that, on my older generation hp remote, there was no context menu button set up, but most other keys worked. I know what you mean about the hack job. that's exactly what I have on my main htpc. But on a new secondary one, I just used this plugin on a stock driver and it worked really well (95% roughly). The only issues are: 1) the enter button at the bottom still opens wmc and 2) I just realized there is still no context menu button set up. I am not sure if those are specific to the remote I have or not, but I haven't really investigated it yet. RE: [RELEASE] MCERemote Addon - MCE Remote Control Plugin for XBMC on Windows - bharath23 - 2012-04-01 07:55 I just setup a fresh install of xbmc eden on a Windows7 x64 system. I installed the mceremote add-on. Ran xbmc as an administrator and setup the registry entries. I also created the keyboard.xml. But when I start xbmc I dont think the keyboard keymap is being loaded into xbmc. I have attached the log of xbmc startup. Any help is appreciated, log: http://pastebin.com/g0JxYXEk RE: [RELEASE] MCERemote Addon - MCE Remote Control Plugin for XBMC on Windows - bharath23 - 2012-04-01 18:41 I also noticed that once I run the showkey application hitting the green windows button doesnt launch xbmc. I need to restart my computer for it to work. RE: [RELEASE] MCERemote Addon - MCE Remote Control Plugin for XBMC on Windows - john.doe - 2012-04-02 00:30 Thanks for this add-on. Just a suggestion to change the ReadMeFirst.txt line endings from LF to CR+LF for compatibility and especially so that when opened from XBMC in Notepad by default that it is easily readable. RE: [RELEASE] MCERemote Addon - MCE Remote Control Plugin for XBMC on Windows - sabre364 - 2012-05-06 02:08 Hi, I'm using eden and have a basic mce remote. I like this new feature as an add-on vs going through keyboard xml. I'd like to change one key but for some reason the change is not taking hold. I want to change the #1 key on my mce remote to the 'tab' key - so i have quick access to now playing. However when I change to 'tab' or even 'Tab' in the addon, it doesnt seem to work. Any thoughts? RE: [RELEASE] MCERemote Addon - MCE Remote Control Plugin for XBMC on Windows - Monkeysweat - 2012-05-07 18:04 First off, I'd like to say this is bar none one of my favourite add-ons, it does what it needs to do and does it easily, no longer need to have other programs/services run in windows or try to hack the registry myself to make things work. I recently had to reinstall windows (SSD crash / replaced, 3rd time) and XBMC, I put in Eden Stable 11.0 and used MCE add on at that time to make 4 changes to remote, which include the info button, live tv, tv guide and record buttons Then I have 'upgraded' to the April monthly release,,, I have noticed (but didn't go back to stable to verify) that I can't get fast scrolling to work (holding arrow button down on remote and zip through my lists) If i want the 85th entry on my list, I have to hit down 85 times or select the scroll bar and hit down like 8 times to get there,, I use fast scrolling all the time and miss it,, is it something with the addon? I have gone back and updated to most recent nightly then rolled back to eden stable, no go on this being fixed,,, I have also now noticed that none of my MCE remote buttons will 'hold' so if i have to turn the volume down 75%, i have to hit volume down a whole bunch of times. Thanks! RE: [RELEASE] MCERemote Addon - MCE Remote Control Plugin for XBMC on Windows - norm360 - 2012-05-11 11:21 I think the button layout found in this registry hack is far more useful. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=78179 RE: [RELEASE] MCERemote Addon - MCE Remote Control Plugin for XBMC on Windows - protocol77 - 2012-08-01 11:33 please tell me you intend to update this for frodo i hope this will be still developed as it is by far the easiest and user friendly way to program an mce remote in windows i also use openelec which has the benefit of LIRC but this is my essential must have addon for a windows xbmc setup |
