Tyler2191 Wrote:I feel so retarded that I can't figure this out when it seems to be so simple. I just need to "add video source".

Am I doing something wrong?

No. You are very smart. It took me a month of trial and error spare time doing tests with this all to make it finally work. And that was only by luck in the end. But it does work.

Also

7) Make sure that you have set your SLINGBOX to be available for INTERNET access. This is under the settings for the slingbox, where you can adjust the IP address and the internal port number, and it self tests that the SLINGBOX is available. The settings never would stick stay correct for me, as maybe my router starts to block any strange ports being used for more than two hours. At least I speculate this. And my box only worked after I did this.

Thanks for working on this Harry Muscle!

I have been playing around with your work on a slingbox pro HD. I was under the impression it was not working at all at this point but I was able to get a mediocre picture with some color disfiguration and jitter. If there is anything I can help you with please let me know.

This seems like a really interesting project and I would really like to see this get completed.

Harry Muscle Wrote:You should be able to map two of the buttons on the AppleTV remote to the PageUp and PageDown buttons via the keymap.xml file. It's not super user friendly but it's doable.

Has anyone been able to do this? How can you make sure that the changes are only for the slingbox? I'd like to use << and >> for channel up/down, as they have no function for the slingbox now, but I don't know where to start to change it for just the slingbox and not for any of the other parts in XBMC.

[edit] Harry, is there a special windowname for the Slingbox client? How is the slingbox client handled? If it has a special case the keymap change might be easy, if it is fullscreenvideo then it's going to be very difficult, as it would change the keymapping also for regular video files. (in which case I'd have to look for a skin that might put in some magic)

[edit2] Is there any way to make a favorite for a specific channel? Right now I just favorite "watch slingbox" and it will start the slingbox on whatever channel it last had. Is there any way to change the favorite so that the slingbox client would send a channel change to the slingbox if you start that particular favorite? That way you could have your preferred channels easily reachable witout having to resort to other remotes for changing channels.

Had to register to thank you for your great work. Sure 320x240 is kinda blurry, but it beats no feed at all. So thanks!

It took me the longest time to get this going, because I didn't even think to check ports and inputs. The defaults weren't anything like my setup, and I can't figure why this would be the case.

My port was 5102, and my input was 3. If you get no video, but you get audio you're probably on the wrong input. (That only took about half an hour to figure out). This is a Slingbox Solo, also bought from Woot a little while ago.

Will the work on unencrypting the HD Pro enable higher resolution on the Solo's?

- rdoac - 2011-09-13

I used to be able to change channels, but the latest XBMC git tree doesn't let me, just returns to the xbmc menu after pushing the button.. Has something changed? Do I now need a default keymap file?

How - byggis - 2011-09-22

I just cant get it to work, how do you do? Can you tell me what to do step by step?

I am running XBMC on an AppleTV2.

I have a couple things that I gather from this thread and was wondering if I am correct or not.

Could someone confirm the following is true...

1. The AppleTV remote does not have the ability to change channels on the slingbox.

2. There is no way to adjust the aspect ratio of the output.

Can you please tell me, step by step how u get it working on the ATV2.. Thank you!

ktjensen Wrote:Also found some more issues. The SLINGBOX actually uses TWO IP addresses to have functionality.

1) IP address for it, to get on your network as a device. This is assigned to the MAC address physically in the box.

2) The second IP address is set when you go into SETUP and then select SET UP FOR INTERNET VIEWING. You might pick automatic, but I always pick manual router configurations. An IP address is given at this time. You now need to open a PORT on your router that conforms to this IP address. Yes, it is required that you clearly understand PORTS in order to get this all working right.

Now I have this all consistently working, and able to be reproduced from a factory setup slingbox. Finally solved an issue that was confusing me. Hope others can use this for practical advice in getting this working well with a SLINGBOX SOLO.

Problem with 64-bit platforms? - znanev - 2011-09-22

Hi all,

can somebody tell me what is needed in order to run the Slingbox plugin for XBMC under Windows 7 64-bit?

Yesterday I played all night, after downloading the latest nightly build for windows, reading all posts in this topic, but to no avail. I was able to add sling:// as source, but when I click on Watch slingbox, nothing happened. I've even turned the debug log, but I couldn't find any error in there.

Today I decided to install this same nightly build on an old laptop running Windows Vista 32-bit. After configuring the sling:// source, clicking on Watch Slingbox in the bottom right corner appeared a message "Waiting.." (or Watching, I'm not sure exactly), and after 4-5 seconds I was able to see the video coming from my Slingbox. Beautiful!

So I now know that Slingbox plugin is working OK on 32-bit platform with Vista and not working on 64-bit platform with Windows 7. Having this in mind I played with the compatibility settings on Windows 7, but no go.

Any ideas/suggestions how to run the Slingbox plugin for XBMC in Windows 7 64-bit?

A couple of questions - Colestin - 2011-09-26

I am running through this setup and am kind of a n00b. I am trying to use my slingbox remotely and am confused on what ip I would use to setup access. My sling box is in Colorado and I am trying to access it with my AT2 in North Carolina. I can access through my laptop just fine so remote access is setup. Now here is where I am lost, my modems ip address for example is 67.250.67.250 (fake) and the LAN ip of the my slingbox from my router is 192.168.1.110.

I have port forwarding setup for 5001 to be open and understand I have to input sling://administrator: password:HuhHuhHuh/5001.... What do I put for my ip address? Sorry if this is somewhere else I ran through a lot of posts here and never saw this question asked before.

Thanks in advance for any response or help.

The model I am using is the solo HD and nightly build installed.

LAN IP is for connecting inside your Local Area Network, WAP IP is for connecting remotely. Sounds like you need to use your WAN IP.

Also, any word on Pro-HD support. Harry, if you still need access to a Pro-HD model, PM me. I'm fairly certain I have everything on the server side configured correctly. However, I'm not getting any response in xbmc.

I can get this working great as far as steaming thru xbmc, but cant find alot of documentaion on how to set up the remote for channel up and down. Found some in the wiki but dont quit understand it completely. Found this post

http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=727418&postcount=101

But not sure how to designate which keys on the keyboard you can choose for channel up or down. Guess what I am saying is if i find the right code to send to my sat reciever how will i know which key on the keyboard will be my channel up or down. Does anyone with experience have a simple howto on where to start with this?
