Yep pretty spot on. Only as you can see, a slight transparent BLUE background as appose to the green you use. As i said, subtle... but subtle changes make massive differences.

But, that's only my opinion after all.

You not a fan?

I'm western suburbs, toward Ballarat. So about 40mins from CBD. close enough Tongue

- Jezz_X - 2010-11-11

Never said I wasn't a fan in fact I committed to svn a test version with the solid white bar instead of the gradient and a fullscreen background just now to see how I like it. http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/5237/screenshot031u.png

Shadows will take a lot more doing to work or even sample because it lots of image moving but I'll try it out on home first maybe tomorrow

As for blue vs green I like my green but hey its early days I might even go pink with purple poka dots Smile

- loggio - 2010-11-11

hehe, well.. Pink is great! haha. well, i like the screen you posted. Looks much better i think.

Actually, like i mentioned earlier... Different colour backgrounds would be a great implementation... looks like the way you've made the skin, the only thing that would need to change in a "different colour scheme'' would have to be the background, in which case... the possibilities are endless and easily implemented.

wow, i'm liking this skin more and more as the days go by.

Nod Nice work as usual Jezz. It's super-fast, really clean & professional looking and has just a great overall look.
A couple ideas/thoughts I'd like to throw out there -
1. In the movies, would you consider adding the MPAA ratings? I think they would fit fine if you added it at the bottom next to the codec flags. It could be the last one and you could do color-coding of the ratings.
R/NC-17=Red, PG-13=Yellow, PG=Blue & G=Green. Of course, these could be adjusted for the different country rating codes and even the TV ratings.
2. I like the minimal amount of data in the movies, but the one thing I do really miss (besides the ratings), is the runtime of the individual movie.
3. I know it might not be in your vision of the skin, but would you consider adding in an option to hide the sub-menus above regular menu items. Either like a kiosk mode or hidden until pushed up? I like the look of it now, but I know there are probably quite a few of us that don't want some of those areas accessed by the rest of the family.

This skin has the potential to become one of the best. It's very functional and super-fast! I love the balance between accessability, speed and animated eyecandy. These are the most important aspects in a skin for me. The design is a bit 'back in time', but that doesn't really matter to me. I think it will be a great base for mods because of it's straight forward usability and simplicity.

Thanks a bunch for your loyalty to XBMC and seemingly endless patience with this kind of projects Jezz_X ! Smile

Jezz_x :

Would you consider a change of colour to codecc logos to a simple black and white, or simply all the same colour?... I think this would be more subtle, uniform and clean.

Your thoughts?

- Jezz_X - 2010-11-12

I prefer the color but hey thats what themed xbt's are all about

- loggio - 2010-11-12

Very true.

how exactly does one compile an xbt? if that's even a simple question to answer, of course.

*Edit:
Never mind, i figured it out. I won't bother fiddling with anything 'till the skin is complete anyways.

Keep it up man, looking great.

The "old" home looked better Sad

If your referring to the fullscreen background I'm not real sold on it either but the non gradient bottom bar I like.

But the background is just a test to see if it grows on me and wasn't meant to be commited

- xbs08 - 2010-11-12

Yes, i'm refering to the fullscreen background.
Somehow i think it doesn't fit the skin very well and i think it also removes the singularity of the HS and makes it more like other existing skins out there.

- Jezz_X - 2010-11-12

reverted it before too many people noticed Smile

felt like getting started on some PVR support http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/946/screenshotxbmcmediacent.png

- Hitcher - 2010-11-15

Off topic but is there anyway to emulate PVR for skinning purposes only I've been asked before about adding support for it and don't have PVR?

Thanks.
