That's beautiful, I hope that exact mockup makes it into the final skin.
I'd love to see the same thing for directors; after watching a great movie I'm more likely to think "That was awesome! I want to watch more Tarintino movies" than "wow! I love Uma Thurmim"
Sadly, right now clicking on the director in just about any skin does nothing.

I have a good idea for a director view but need to do some investigation into what info is possible to use.

I do too, unfortunately the majority of the information you are looking at on that page right now is justnotavailable in xbmc.
For the bottom images, i wonder flickr might not be a better source than google images. I'm not sure what if any API google images has to access results, but i know that flickr has a fair robust one.

Yeah, I totally agree with you, and I may open a new feature suggestion for the idea, but I wanted to vet it completely fleshed out so that I knowy be an option exactly what im asking for.
Tmdb mint be a good option as well. I took a look a it and it may be a viable solution, but again, there is going to have to be someone to get it implemented.

By writing this the idea came to my mind to have the main menu as bookmarks on the upper side of the book. The other menu items could be bookmarks on the left or right side of the book - depending on which side is in the focus.
Maybe this is going a bit to far, but it hopefully gave you some new ideas.
Another Idea was to have some sort of book shelf at some point in the skin.

I had actually considered this idea - but I have seen the bookmark concept used before in other similar designs and I'm afraid of being a little too derivative. That being said, I'm still not sold on the menu location right now, and I'm sure that will change. I've got that blank area that I still haven't decided what to do with yet, either. Possibly a random movie there. Not 100% on that yet. I'm currently working on a tv home view that's similar hoping it would provide some inspiration!
As far as a bookshelf goes - the iPad uses a bookshelf for the ebook reader and Im not a huge fan. The biggest issue I see is that of scale - if you notice all of my mockups are about from the same perspective and the elements relate in scale to about the same point of view. I think I'd i were to pull the camera back (in effect) to fit in a bookcase it would break the perspective for
me.
I appreciate the feed back though - I really am open to new ideas and inspiration!

Movies Home almost complete. Still not sure about the menu on the red card. That should probably be towards the top since its the first thing most people are going to want to navigate.
The Featured Movie is just a random movie pulled out of the database. I'd like to have some customization... perhaps chosen out of a certain genre? For instance, I don't need my daughter seeing the fanart from Saw every time we look through movies.
Then again, I can fix that with creating users... so whatever.

I think that layout is perfect, and I like the red card. It needs a bold-ish color to stand out...

Your saying "Movies Home" is this like the normal home or you click Movies from Home and it takes us to this layout?
