I had a failure on Openelec RC1 as well. System crashes/reboots when I run a movie from the cinema feature in the Aeon Nox skin. This does not happen when I run on Openelec 1.95.5 with 2.0.57 or earlier or Dharma with 1.0.53. Any help figuring out why this happens or how to fix would be great Giftie.

Thanks in advance!

Is that the complete log? It seems incomplete and does not show any faults.

Yes I believe it is. The system's xbmc service appears to crash and the logs just stop. This started when Openelec 1.95.7 came out. Your script still works fine with Openelec 1.95.5 (Eden Beta 5) but fails, rebooting the system with version 1.95.7 and 1.99.1 (RC1). The logs I am pasting are the .xbmc/temp/xbmc.old.log file. Here is another sample from today. I have also tried this in several skins and on a few different boxes (Zotac ID41 and Zotac Nano) with the exact same result (i.e. works fine on Openelec 1.95.5 or below but broken on 1.95.7 or above).

Hi Giftie, first post so I just wanted to say a huge thanks for such an amazing add-on. I have been using XBMC with your add-on for around 12 months with a Zotac ID41 happily having it run some local trailers and other clips before playing my movie (the Mrs and friends love it). That was back when I as on Openelec 1.95.5, since 1.95.7 and above the script has just failed to run as mentioned by the other user. I thought it was just me and until I came across the above post I'd just given up hope of ever gettig it to work. I am trying to get a log up now for you to look at but as with "lallhands" has stated the script just reboots xbmc so I don't think the relevant info is stored in the log.

I am using the Aeon Nox Skin on 1.99.1, all I can really add extra to the above without the log is that when the cinema option is selected from the Info screen a small screen pops up..too fast for screen capture, just before XBMC reboots with a small x in the centre of the screen. I hope you can get us a fix for quite possibly the best add-on around for XBMC.

Regards

There was an issue in Eden that caused XBMC to hang when the Progress dialog is opened by a script, That is what I think is happening(by viewing lallhands log) I know this bug got fixed but Eden.1 never got released. Disabling the progress dialogs might take care of this problem, I'll see if it will.

Streaming trailers have been a hit and miss with Eden. As the log was for Streamed trailers I'm not sure why the download does not work(though you need to run the slideshow to give the script a chance to download the trailers)

RE: [RELEASE] Cinema Experience - the new Home Theater Experience Script - lallhands - 2012-10-10

Thanks for the feedback Giftie, I'm glad the logs helped. In your experience, is there a preferred way to disable the progress dialogs? I'd like to do that anyway as I find them distracting and I want to test this on various platforms and builds.

Cheers

Thanks for such a fast response Giftie. I just wanted to add..as sad as it sounds the error that was popping up just before XBMC restarts, after launching CE was cracking me up so out came the iphone and I recorded my screen and played it back. After scrolling to just the right point I can now see that the dialogue box says

"Cinema Experience

Setting up playlist

cancel"

This pops up for a split second before restarting xbmc, It is still occurring on a vanilla install of 1.991 openelec.

Hope this helps http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=10366

I just threw the order of files together. I usually have 2 random files from HD latest trailers play, then 1 random from Dolby & THX , single item from Pearl folder (good old popcorn theme) then movie start.

I am sorry, I cannot find a solution by myself searching the web.

Hi are you using nightly builds of XBMC?

(2012-09-29, 21:52)wints Wrote: Ok its just that im having the same problem and using the nightly build aswell Wink

I haven't made this to be compatible with Frodo yet.. So the problems are probably due to that fact.

Not Frodo compatible yet...

So I effectively shut down the Progress Dialog by delaying it excessively in advancedsettings.xml but the script still crashes xbmc before the progressdialog.xml is launched. I caught this screen shot right before the crash. Not sure how helpful it is.
