Kode Wrote:Hi Babel, wasn't abuse from xbmc users, was general attacks on the server, before we started hosting with them.

I will ask, he's been very good with allowing specific ranges, not sure he will allow a whole class B subnet though.

If you pm me your IP address I'll make sure you can at least get on Smile

Hey Kode,
I'm having the same problem here in Brazil. Already confirmed using hotspot shield that fanart.tv works fine using the proxy but regular connections do not work. The IP starts with 189.121.XX.X. Can you also help me??
My ping results:

I've noticed the new additions of Album Covers... I have literally thousands of them.
If I make them all the same size and weight, I dont mind adding them, but I'm a tad concerned about the quality side of it.

For example, some of the older ones, scan in and look like 'magazine scans' the newer ones are superb though. Is that going to taken into account considering the quality of the original cover?

I can now connect to the site. Thanks Kode

Hi Kode,

Don't know what you've done, but it's working again... at least in New-Caledonia Big Grin

Thanks a lot!!

GREAT WORK!

Kode Wrote:Initial support for music fanart has been added, please bear with me though as there is still a fair bit to do.

Also currently you can't see your submissions, there is no feedback for successful upload, and a host of other small things.

cdART: images should be 1000 x 1000px, if you can't find a decent image at this size consider creating one, I have attached a template PSD here: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B3_oyaclxtK0M2FlNDdlZDktODlmNi00NWMwLTliYjQtOTI1NDFlNjcwYTBj&hl=en_GB&authkey=CPG8w9MH it should get you started.

Artist Backgrounds: Images should be 1920 x 1080px, they should also be of very high quality, we don't want to add crap quality images.

Album covers: This is currently set at 1000 x 1000px but I am open to suggestion for this, it seems like there are a lot more high quality disc images than there are album covers, so might need to drop this to 500 x 500px

Thanks for doing this Kode... I'm busily changing cdART Manager to support this. First cdARTs will be handled then the other artwork... The MusicBrainz search server was abused today Smile

I'm not sure on this one, it might be worth seeing if a surface blur works though (a surface blur is supposed to keep the lines and smooth things inside them).

To be honest as long as the image isnt blurry (i.e. hasnt been upsized from a smaller image) and it's just grain, I'd probably approve it.

I'm thinking of adding a replace flag, which might work in this case, so an image that has a replace flag will show until someone uploads a better version.

I will probably do the same thing for reported images.

Cool Smile

I have also updated the template and added it to the cdart page, the direct link is http://fanart.tv/resources/fanart-cd-template-v2.psd

So what happens when I click an artist and the album does not exist?

Example -
Bob Marley & The Wailers - Legend.

On FanArt.TV

Where's the information coming from?

I also noticed a few artists I was looking for do not have any albums listed and does not give the option to add one.

This was part of a mass email sent out over the weekend but happy to paste it here for you -

If the artist you want isn't showing up, go to http://musicbrainz.org, search for the artist, when you find it note the artist id, i.e. if you search for Green Day, click on their entry the URL is http://musicbrainz.org/artist/084308bd-1654-436f-ba03-df6697104e19.html, so their id is 084308bd-1654-436f-ba03-df6697104e19, copy that id and put it in the search bar, this should add the artist and their albums to the database and take you to the page.

I am also looking at giving users the ability to add albums that aren't imported in the initial scan.

Current issue is I need to change the code from using the album mbid to using release-group mbid's.

And an issue with that is the search in release-group is grouped with AND, I want to get all the release groups that aren't singles, which isn't really possible without OR, so I'm looking into ways round this.

This is also going to mean I'm going to have to go through every current artist, update all their album mbid's, then every images album_mbid as well.

- Kode - 2011-05-18

Eventually you will be able to do it on an artists page, but for now what you need to do is go to musicbrainz.org and find the albums release-group id and go to http://fanart.tv/api/addalbum.php?mbid=releasegroupid i.e. http://fanart.tv/api/addalbum.php?mbid=a867a345-f904-3cd1-939d-f7c24b14719f

I can't connect to the site from Argentina

- BlueNZ - 2011-05-21

Hi guys,
It's been fun helping out with the logos but as I said in the past if my images are going to be denied for no reason other that "image is not of high enough quality" I simply won't make any more. This happened several times on Friday and it's just not acceptable. If they were for having jagged edges it's BS as they're made completely from font with smooth AA turned on, while looking at other logos submitted today many are clearly jagged. Here's a few examples -
Image - jagged edges and hard to see on light backgrounds.
Image - VERY jagged/uneven edges.
Image - stroke has jagged edges and needs to be smoothed.
So I've smoothed the slight jags that my text had and resubmitted but I'm pretty much fed up with things right now. Best of luck with everything.

Ok, well thanks for all your help, best of luck to you too and sorry you feel that way.

Hi Kode,

I've registered at fanart.tv intending to upload cdart images. I'm using the template supplied but I'm having trouble getting 24bit png files with transparency at 1000x1000 pixels under the 620kb limit, even with png compression set to the maximum. Is this just me and my settings or is the limit set too low?? A lot of cdarts on xbmcstuff.com hit around the 400-450kb mark with a resolution of just 450x450px.
