Power-Saving amd system (ati linux support?) - regn - 2011-01-01

Hi,
I'm planning to build a amd x2 setup soon as a fileserver and xbmc.
I want to keep the power usage under idle as low as possible.
One of the better boards for that purpose has a 785G Chipset with an Radeon 4200 IGP (msi).

If i just have to do some stuff like this http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=670551&postcount=18 that wouldn't bother me to much. As long as stuff like vaapi & refresh rate adjustment is working at the end.

If you have any other suggestions for power-saving (and cheap, i want to keep costs for cpu. mb and gfx under 100€ ) boards please let me know. Smile

If you want perfectly working refresh-rate matching in Linux, you need a Nvidia GPU. End of story, add a cheap GT210.
