Shall we start moving over.. or continue here until we are told to move?

I'm not a fan of the organization of the forums/sub forums.. but it's a good start!

I'm not sure if anyone else here uses Reddit, but I created a subreddit just in case we want to move there instead.
http://www.reddit.com/r/XBMC_Icefilms/

I personally would like to have the nested comments (especially for troubleshooting a specific user's issue) and posts dedicated to one topic dealing with the addon. Also, being a mod means you could control the content. Only down side I see is that it will not be part of the outlawed addons forum. However, since they are the ones that set it that forum, seems like they are still in control over it... Seems like a good idea to just remove them from the equation. idk, just a thought

Eldorado, let me know if you want to try it out and I'll make you a mod. (this goes for other devs too)

Personally I don't see the advantage of reddit over xbmchub.

1) I'm not really sure what you mean by 'nested comments'? I assume it's quotes, but that is obviously available in any forum.

2) I think at xbmchub they will add whoever should be in charge of the icefilms subforum to the icefilms group which has mod rights on that subforum so you have control.

3) I'm pretty sure it has no relation to xbmc.org, hence why it was created. Xbmc foundation wants to clear their legal obligation so they're kicking out certain addons. They wouldn't go and make another forum for them would they? I think it's just people who want to help.

Just trying to think it out...

I think we might just migrate over to XBMC Hub

Who setup the site?

I have no problems with what is going on, it's unfortunate that they are forced to do this in order to watch their backs.. it's the stupid laws we have and even worse with the US government snatching up domains without due process, can't risk losing XBMC.org!

In this case isolating addons to separate site is a good idea, and keeping them all under one roof, I don't care who runs it Smile

Oh and one thing that might work out nicely is each addon having it's own sub-forum, so it's not just one massive long thread with the same question asked a thousand times over, instead a thousand separate threads with the same question Smile

Not a lot of information about who set it up but this is at the bottom of the site.

Not really quotes, but replying directly to the post, and subsequent replies will "live" under the OP. Using quotes is fine too, but they do get lost over all the pages. Just dig around the site and see how it functions to see what I mean.

Just forums in general are a bit tougher to navigate. Reddit also has the ability to vote up and down so useful content will always be at the top.

Adding the subreddit to your favorites list will bring new/relevant posts to your frontpage, like an rss feed.

Again, its just a preference thing. I know I hate signing up for and following multiple forums. The only real reason to use XBMCHub is to keep all the outlaw addons together, but I don't really see the reason why we would need to keep together. Also, who's to say they even use it. The new forum looks pretty sparse so far.

This could be an opportunity to get out of the old message board format and use something that has a bit livelier community.

Dig around the site a bit to get a better understanding of the difference.
Here's an example of how it has been used for developing an app: http://www.reddit.com/r/AlienBlue/

Eldorado : If you'd prefer I'll get a domain and add it to my server and you can Admin the forums.

Hi.

A bit of a request here...

Could you guys post/maintain a FAQ for XBMC users, with extra info for ATV users?

Something that a link could be posted to from the icefilms forum?

If you asked nicely, I'm sure the admin would create a forum section for you guys to continue with!
