Here you see a log of my problem while trying to create a 'Folder channel' to my channel list. Any clue in how to solve it? Everytime I try to create a channel based on a singular folder, I select it and press the OK button but nothing happens and the channel is not creating.

Sad

I can't tell, is this a local folder or a networked folder? If networked, Do you have it mapped to your local computer or are you trying to point PseudoTV to a folder on another computer? If that is the case, you may want to try to map the drive to your local computer and try that way. This is the way that I do folder channels for bumpers and music videos and such.

RE: [RELEASE] PseudoTV (Video) Addon - Virtual EPG and TV Channel Surfing Script for XBMC - Wanderer89 - 2012-06-02

First let me chime in and say this plugin is awesome, has made me watch twice as much tv, if not more.

Alright I've got a weird question. I host all my playlist .xsp files on my raid, and I'm having trouble pointing pseudotv channels at them (it keeps opening the playlists folder under userdata in %appdata%\xbmc)

I know it's possible to point channels at playlists on a remote directory, because I already have 20+ channels doing so. I can't for the life of me figure out what I did a few months ago to make that work, any insight would be helpful.

edit: I suppose I could edit the settings2.xml file manually, but it's not exactly pretty. *hint hint* would be more awesome if it were Smile

Please see my answer to the fellow right before you in this thread. Do you have your folder that you use for the channels and such, mapped as a local channel on your pc? If not, give that a try.

As I stated in my post, it's a remote network directory on my raid, and having to move it locally would mess a lot of things up for me. All of pseudotv's addon files are still in the normal/local xbmc directories, it's just the .xsp's that are located elsewhere They're on a raid-z volume mapped via smb to a drive letter in windows, so they appear local to any and all apps anyway. For some reason my other client is able to get to this playlist directory on my mapped volume without a problem, so I ended up just copying the config files wholesale and let it regenerate a cache on my new client, works fine, just wish it wasn't necessary. I'm not really looking to have shared channels, and when I tried to use it before it hindered performance quite a bit even with a fast as hell raid via gigabit. If I figure out why one client can navigate back to other drive letters and one can't, I'll post back.

Hello, First of all I would like to thank you for building such a Wonderful plugin! You have re-invented the wheel in my eyes!

I would just like to know if there has been a fix to the loud crack/popping noise I sometimes get while changing channels? I can live with any other bugs but this one is just terrible it scares the crap out of me every time! XD

I have done several searches within this thread and I have only come to find small hints but nothing really that solves my/our issue I see something about running a nightly build that fixes this? I have downloaded the latest nightly build with no luck :/

Thanks!

I've started using PseudoTV recently and has easily become my favourite and most used addon for XMBC but I've noticed that while I have a large collection of TV shows, it always seems to be repeating the same ones. For example, I have all episodes of Top Gear (147 episodes) and I've managed to stumble upon the same episode playing three times in 4 days.

Is this normal? In my library entire serieses are usually all marked as watched or unwatched so irrespective of the show only watched/unwatched settings I should have the whole series available, or none.

A simple solution for this that I use is to use a custom playlist sorted by playcount. This, in essence, puts a show at the end of the queue once it has been watched (inside PseudoTV or outside). Unlike some of the other solutions, this will survive the channels being refreshed.

RE: [RELEASE] PseudoTV (Video) Addon - Virtual EPG and TV Channel Surfing Script for XBMC - aptalca - 2012-06-05

Quick question. . .

I am a little anal about my watched tags, and I guess if I have unwatched stuff on PseudoTV and happen to catch the tail end of a movie or an episode, it will get marked as watched in the library (is that correct? I haven't used pseudoTV yet, I am trying to evaluate whether setting it up is worth the time and efforts)

Does PseudoTV do anything to prevent that from happening? Either prevent xbmc from marking or maybe reverse the tag after the fact??

Thanks

Hey man,

I just got a simple question .. Ive been using PTV for a while and it's great Smile

My question is: I am currently using smart playlists for some of my channels, and when the channel lists are created, and because I have it on random, it is creating them unevenly. ie.. Two eps of scrubs, then one Family Guy then scrubs again...

I know this is probably been covered before, but I was wondering what rules do I have to apply to the smart playlist so it has a different show each time, just like you have for the preloaded channels, where it would be one show from each scrape, rather than just random

Thanks Smile your a champ, such a great plugin Smile

Hi everyone, I've got a question:
I'm trying to make channels with commercials between the shows.

I've got a channel (the first one), which is hidden (has a rule "don't play this channel") and the content is a specified directory (currently has only 2 files).

Then, I've got another channel which has drama tv-shows. I've added "Interleave another channel" rule, with the following configuration:
Channel Number: 1.
Min Interleave Count: 1.
Max Interleave Count: 2.
Starting Episode: 1.

I'm trying to have 1 or 2 commercials between each show, but it doesn't seems to work.
I've go the regular shows and nothing between them. I see "..." on the EPG, but it has the name of the following show and it never plays.

Notice the "hide very short videos" option is disabled.

Any ideas? :\

hi
i am reminding you that there is a bug in the script.pseudotv.ChannelConfig.xml under the transparency skin is still there.

when i use the transparency skin and want to configure a channel in psuedotv to use a directory, the option is not there.
if i go into the skin.transparency\720p folder and delete/rename the script.pseudotv.ChannelConfig.xml it will be ok.

thanks

Hello,

Someone may correct me if I am wrong, but I think that the "Min/Max Interleave count" does not represent your commercials, but the episodes on the channel that you want your commercials interleaved with. You may want to try playing with those numbers to get what you want. Maybe try with both set to 1. Maybe try 1 and 5 as min/max see if it puts a commercial anywhere within 5 episodes. I think that if you play with those values, you'll hit upon something that you can live with.

Yeah...I have to change to another skin when I want edit some channels. I don't know if it would be Jason or whoever configured the skins for pseudo that could hopefully fix it. Not really a big deal to me, I work around it.

Yeah...I have to change to another skin when I want edit some channels. I don't know if it would be Jason or whoever configured the skins for pseudo that could hopefully fix it. Not really a big deal to me, I work around it.

i just went into the skin folder and deleted the script.pseudotv.ChannelConfig.xml so it will use the original skin's xml file.
at least until it will get fixed

Any ideas? :\

try this:
channel 1 - commercials. rule - do not play this channel

channel 2 -
rule 1 - interleave channel 1 - min 1 max 1
rule 2 - interleave channel 1 - min 2 max 2

go into the userdata\addon_data\script.pseudotv\cache and delete the channel_1.m3u and channel_2.m3u files.

open psuedo tv and wait till it populate the channels.
close the psuedotv and delete channel_2.m3u (and not channel 1)

open psuedotv so it will create channel_2 file again.

edit the channel_2.m3u file with notepad (or notepad++ if you want to see anything) and see if it is interleaving the channel 1

when you want to interleave it needs to take files from the channel_1.m3u and integrate it into channel_2.m3u
if the channel_1 is not created ok before the channel_2.m3u is created it wont work.

btw the Min 1 max 1 will enter a show after one show
the min 2 max 2 will enter a show after every other show.

so you will have movie -> commercial (rule 1) -> commercial (rule 2) - > movie

I am having trouble with the shared channels option. On my one system I have shared channels with the path Y:\Shared channels and pseudotv works perfectly. On the second system I have shared enabled with the path Y:\Shared channels but I get the error "No channels found" only on system 2. The "y" drive refers to a networked drive on a NAS. I have them both mapped the same way on each system, yet it only seems to work on one system. Any ideas? Could my "advancedsettings.xml" on either system be messing it up? I would not tink so... also, I have no problem browsing to the path on either system, so it would seem both can see them. I have tried resets of both systems.

I think I found the problem... can't access (smb) anymore... but I still have access to all the videos on the shared disks. weird
