Nice job, I may incorporate some of those changes into PseudoTV. Also, very nie catch on the thread exiting thing, that saves me quite a bit of debug work.

Ok, new version in stable-pre. The purpose is mostly to try and fix the issues with the newest daily builds. The small issue was that JSON calls failed. The bigger issue is that scripts can no longer access SMB shares, so I can't check the file for durations if XBMC doesn't have them. The problem is compounded by the fact that there is a bug in the daily builds where XBMC won't return the duration on any of the files...meaning that the video parser is necessary to build any of the channel playlists.

The changes work just fine on Windows and Mac, but I haven't been able to test it on any linux setup, so....I don't know whether it will work or not. My guess is that it will work properly as long as whatever user is running XBMC has the ability to run the 'mount' command.

first-time using this (only found out about the add-on after upgrading to a nightly!).

Good news - Add-on now runs... Woop! TV Shows working really well!

Bad news - Movie names are not showing up on the guide. It seems as though they are being pulled through in the same place as the episode title, rather than series name and as such aren't showing up on the guide. Is this an add-on issue, or skin issue?

You're exactly right, the title is going into the wrong spot...apparently the JSON changes broke the regular expressions I'm using. I'll fix it in a while.

Ok, updated version to actually display movie info.

Ouch... hadn't used PseudoTV in awhile. The update fixed all the issues I was having, but of course it wiped all my custom artwork. It's a great update, I just wish I had thought to back up that artwork Sad

- Jason102 - 2011-04-29

Yea, sorry about that, the update automatically wipes the directory. I'd say you can just move them to a different directory and set that in the settings, but it sounds like it's too late...

Another update to stable-pre. This one adds the ability to change the channel startup method. There are 3 options:

- Real Time: PseudoTV will act like it's on all of the time, even when it's not. If you see a show is starting at 7pm and you turn off PseudoTV until 6:30, the same show will start at 7 as expected.

- Resume: All channels will resume exactly where they left off when you exited the script.

- Random: The channels will all start at random times inside of their playlists. This may be most useful for those with smaller libraries, as it will mix up what is "currently playing".

These have no affect on Serial Mode.

This update will be pushed to mainstream very soon, so please report any bugs that you find.

Great progress, Jason.

Are there any plans to add folder based channels?

Not currently, no, that sort of thing is for TV Time to do. My goal is to create a very solid experience and give the user an easy way to setup simple channels, or let them configure the channels themselves using the smart playlist editor. I have no desire to recreate the editor or add all of the random channel modification features that a user may want to use.

Don't get me wrong, TV Time has it's place, but his goal is different than my own. He wishes to take my code and provide every flexibility parameter that he can to let the user create whatever channel that they want (yes, he adds things besides this, but this is the core addition). As I said, I wish to provide a solid experience without the need for much configuration. I feel like the extras don't add much that the playlist editor can't do.

I don't mean to harass you for your simple question. The previous paragraphs aren't necessarily directed at you, just at the user-base as a whole. This is my intent, that is his. I will slowly add features that I feel add something to every user, he adds features upon individual user requests. Just different philosophies. Although, to be fair, the chart on the first page of his thread is very convincing...even I'm almost tempted to buy his product...

Nice work on the channel startup method Jason102, I find that I only need to force a channel update when I add new media, which is cool Wink

ps. I updated my PseudoTV skin, I got rid of all the duplicate textures in the channel config/TVoverlay and made the channel bug less obtrusive and moved to top right.
