Ubuntu + XBMC PVR + MediaPortal TvServer - TjaLfE - 2011-01-19

Hi all...

I have recently been trying to setup a tvserver at home.

I have been doing alle the testings on Windows machines, and have a fully working TV server running MediaPortal TvServer.

I have been using margro's windows builds of XBMC with PVR support.
Now the time has come to my Zotac ION machine in the living room running an installation of the XBMC live CD.

I just installed a normal ubuntu with a friendly GUI for testing purpose.
I have installed xbmc with pvr from this PPA:lars-opdenkamp/xbmc-pvr

As i browsed to the addons i saw, that only one MediaPortal addon is availible, but on the Windows builds i have two MediaPortal addons, a tsreader(for single seat setup) and a ffmpeg. I use the ffmpeg addon on the windows machine, and i works perfect.

When i try to configure the one and only plugin on the Ubuntu machine, it doesn't say it it's tsreader og ffmpeg, can any of you clearify what i uses?

I can't get it to connect to the tvserver. What am I doing wrong? do I need another addon? and if so, which and where to find it?

I hope some of you have a similar working setup, who can help Smile

- imike01 - 2011-01-19

I use both Windows and Linux (xubuntu) versions of pvr builds and media portal pvr client works equally fine in both cases.

One difference is that I run my own iptv server instead of media portal server but i do not think it should matter
I have 2 linux boxes and a windows one connected to the same server.

If you use similar (remote server) setup make sure target machine does not block incoming calls (firewall?)

@TjaLfE
pastebin a full xbmc debug log please

- TjaLfE - 2011-01-20

Hi...

I will paste a full debug log when i get home from work Smile

@imike01 IPTV server? sounds expensive? or is it something you can download and install? Smile

- imike01 - 2011-01-20

TjaLfE Wrote:@imike01 IPTV server? sounds expensive? or is it something you can download and install? Smile

Smile It is basically my own python server that processes my specific iptv data sources (russian programming) and using MP protocol to make PVR Client think it is talking to MP.

At some point i will create my own pvr client but for now existing MP one is fine for what i need

better late than never i guess Tongue

Hi, I am having the same issue as TjaLfE, was this ever solved?

EDIT: Oh boy, I feel silly. The port was not opened in Windows Firewall....

EDT2: Ok...so it actually does not work. I get the channels loaded now and the EPG data but I cannot open a channel. http://paste.ubuntu.com/569942/

- volvobob - 2011-02-21

Same here, I started a thread a month ago (exactly the same issue) , it looks like some sort of issue with the mapping of the RTSP stream (which you can watch successfully, by settting up a video playlist to it) and the pvr pointer which does not work

- margro - 2011-02-21

A quick reply to let you know that I'm working on this issue. Unfortunately, the logs do not help me. The addon is sending rtsp URL to XBMC and XBMC uses the ffmpeg libraries to play the stream. Everything seems ok until the actual playback within ffmpeg.

@bonzy: try to enable the "resolvertsphostname" setting. From your log, I see that the rtsp url contains a hostname instead of an IP-address. Hostname resolving for rtsp urls does not work for me, so that could be the problem in your case.

@Tjalfe: the problem in your case (from your log file):
21:30:38 T:2867477360 M:1149014016 ERROR: AddOnLog: xbmc.pvrclient/MediaPortal PVR Client: Could not stream channel 4. [ERROR]: TVServer answer: AllCardsBusy||
So, the TV Server is unable to tune and stream the selected channel. Check the MediaPortal TV Server logs for further details.

- Bonzi - 2011-02-22

Hi Margro, thanks. I changed that setting but it didn't fix it. Thanks for your and others work on this. Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help that would be more useful than the logs. I can also test whenever/whatever you need.

- volvobob - 2011-02-22

Hi Margro, Thanks for looking at this,

One thing worth adding :
With the mediaportal pvr add on enabled and when it sucessfully gets the EPG, XBMC hangs on exit and needs to be killed

If the add on is disabled this does not occur,
If the EPG fails to get e.g server is down, no network then this does not occur.

Hi,

i also have the issue when i startup a channel i get the error "cannot be played"

While checking on the server i see channel is running (ts file) and also switching
channels working, roughly they not played back on xbmc client.

wanted to test the linux setup cause now i use MP overall, switching to XBMC
would be nice ...

windows builds working fine btw, but deinterlacing not, so i started testing linux build

installed ubuntu 10.10, xbmc odenkamp via apt-get ...

running fine so far, channels, epg all there, just stream seems to be problematic ..

anyone got this working yet ?

also can confirm that quitting xbmc stalls completely ... have to power off hard and reboot

Edit: Tested now with ubunto 10.04 instead 10.10, same result

some debug output wich may helps
