Not at the current time. No one has figured out how to run iOS apps on the AppleTV2.

hi if you have nitotv installed install first xbmc thorugh the installer in the nitotv menu after that go again to the installer and go for the search option type boot - first in the list will be boot xbmc plugin install it.

next restart it boots directly into xmbc

hope that helps

Thank you for bumping this 9 month old thread with information we already had on our FAQ.

Stay away from this! - wallace47931 - 2011-10-14 23:29

Cant beleive the startup script has put my device into a constant crashing loop :-(

Gets to the apple logo then just constantly crashes... tried rebooting, unplugging, reseting etc to no avail

Users beware! Im gonna have to restore and start again :-( and reinstall everything!

try this..it work for me..
Can the ATV2 directly boot into XBMC?

Yes but there's currently no way back to the ATV2 menu without disabling direct booting. SSH into the ATV2 and:

To enable direct booting:

apt-get install org.tomcool.xbmc-booter

To disable direct booting:

apt-get remove org.tomcool.xbmc-booter

to ssh to apple tv it ssh root@your -appletv-ip

The only down side is there is NO "go to sleep" mode within XBMC. So my poor ATv2 is always ON

The AppleTV1/2 never does a true sleep so it consumes the same amount of power regardless.

Doesn't matter - the suspend mode is poor fake ... it doesn't save any energy - it only powers off the hdmi output. CPU and the other stuff is still running as before ...
