Ok the ac3 sound issue gets weirder and weirder!

I have 4.2.1 with the latest xbmc build connected via optical to my receiver. I had the sound issue with lots of crackling and hiss. I thought I solved the problem yesterday since I have watched 2 series and 1 movie in complete 5.1 dolby without any problem.

I changed the output to hdmi while I am on optical and suddenly it worked!

But when i started xbmc back up this morning the problem returned.... Oh the frustration!!

I must say I have been fiddeling a lot with all the settings yesterday, also in the guisettings.xml, but I thought the final change was output from optical to hdmi.

But now I can't reproduce what I did and am stuck with the lousy unusable sound I had before.

The good news is that there is a setting/trick somewhere that fixes the problem. Now we just have to find it..... I will keep looking but for everybody with the same issue, keep trying stuff! It can work with the build you are running now.
The only thing that remained was a loud click noise at the start of everything I tried. As soon as my receiver detected 'digital' on the display I got a loud click from the speakers but after that perfect crystal clear dolby 5.1!

I am soooo frustrated right now Wink

Frustrating is having a Tethered jailbreak.

- Majestic - 2011-02-01

My dolby and dts issues went away with the update to 4.2.1! tethered isnt really a big thing in ATV. On iphone it is.

But now I have a micro-judder issue on most movies because of pull down i think.

It is when you lose power and don't own a laptop.

Please don't use this forum to vent out those frustrations. XBMC doesn't do jailbreaking.

wattie777 Wrote:Hi not sure if this problem is down to 1.29 version but i can not get key presses to work from my ipad to control xbmc on my appleTV2.

So far i have tried HD remote app, Ultramote app and the latest Commander app all will connect and except gestures, but whenever i wish to input text in a search for instance the keyboard will not input.

I am at a loss as to what to try next with having purchased 3 apps I now feel it my be a bug or I am having a senior moment in the setup.

I would be grateful for any guidance

Thx
Dave

This is a known issue with eventclient remotes.

ddingle Wrote:I can't remember.. are you using the original, un-tethered jailbreak with the original ATV2 4.0 OS/firmware? I still think this is more an Apple firmware/OS issue than an XBMC issue. After reading all the threads/posts/comments it seems that people that are having luck with the passthrough are using more like "4.2.1"-type stuff. I'm... almost, but not really... tempted to upgrade my firmware, re-jailbreak tethered etc. just to see if I can get the passthrough working. Un-tethered is SO nice though. Nod

Nope, I am using the 4.2.1(4.1.1 system fw) tethered jailbreak like most people. Davilla is using the original untethered I think, who if I recall also doesn't have this problem, but I will verify with him again.

Anyone having AC3/DTS passthrough issues, are you on 4.1(4.0 System FW) iOS untethered or tethered?

I've repackaged root2's build in a .deb and put it on the 1st post for ATV2 and here: http://music.hadm.net/~keith/xbmc_atv2/org.xbmc-020111_atv2-arm.deb

Should have all amet's updates from today.

Thanks root2 for building this since I'm at work and dont' have a mac here.

any improvement on this release?

- precator - 2011-02-01

when you update to the new build do you lose all your settings you had setup? Would i need to re-add my sources, etc?

No, they're retained. Thanks for this. still can't add music to library, but hopefully it'll come soon!

Another stable build thank you, I am with the other writer if someone can find a way to add your itunes library and playlists to XMBC over wireless network on the ATV that would be great

Thanks

ffmpeg now uses "neon" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_architecture#Advanced_SIMD_.28NEON.29

which should boost the video playback performance.Shocked
