I have re-jailbreaked my ATV2, and this time I used greenpois0n. After installing NitoTV there now seems to be a easy to use GUI-install option for XBMC under "nitoTV / Install Software / XBMC-ATV2".

Let's say I use that install option, which I presume will install the latest official build, will I then be able to upgrade to an unofficial build via ssh using the instructions in the first post in this thread?

And does it work the other way around? If I begin by installing the unofficial build, and then there's a new official build. Will I then be able to upgrade the unofficial build I previously installed to the new official via the GUI?

No matter which direction you go any upgrades will be through SSH.
My advice, install through Nito tv to start. then, upgrade through the instructions in the first post here if you would like to try the unofficial builds.

Any other upgrades after that, official or not, can then be done by ssh.

Ok, sound good. I'll go with that.

The nitoTV menu inside "install software" does have an option saying "upgrade all" which gives the impression that it's possible to upgrade through GUI and not SSH. But maybe that's not the case?

I believe you are right and that would probably work to upgrade to an official xbmc release.

I must have missed that option. Thanks

Cheers Davilla and co for the excellent iOS builds! It really is amazing what you have achieved in such a short period of time.

Thanks also for all your hard work Keith in doing the unofficial builds!

Looks like there have been quite a few commits recently. Keith any hints as to when we can expect the next build? I would love to try out some of the recent fixes.

Thanks again all for making this happen.

There's a keymapping floating around to change it if that what you desire.

Updated the 1st links.

As stated in the 1st thread, PLEASE DO NOT TRY THESE OUT IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOURE DOING.

If you need to ask, please don't use these builds. I'm trying to be an asset by helping out but I don't want to cause more questions/problems/issues by having these out there so the devs need to spend more time answering the same questions over and over and over.

The officials run really well now, I encourage all to use that unless theres specific functionality you desire from these unofficial builds *and* you know how ssh/dpkg/wget works and feel comfortable in a command line.

AC3 Audio Stream Patch - TSViper - 2011-02-18

Most of my video's (500+) have beed encoded to m4v using HandBrakes AppleTV preset so there are two audio tracks and I must manually select the 5.1 AC3 track each time I play a movie for the first time. There is a patch avail that selects the "Best" track automatically.

Its Discussed in this thread: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=679228

Any chance on getting this compiled into the next nightly?
This would make my new XBMC ATV2 perfect.

Thanks again for all the hard work and compiling these for us.

Thanks all

I have buffering issues with some movies over 1gig

Xvid avi 1.31gb buffers when pausing or fwd, it gets stuck on a 15 second re-buffer loop. (using smb, hard wired to router streaming from a ppc over wifi)

Using UPnp I cannot ffwd, the time always reverts back to the previos position( is this a limit of upnp?)

XBMC team doesn't want to backport any patches before they do the merge to TRUNK since it'll probably just break other things.
Once they reach that point this should be fixed, or at least much easier to apply the patch.

@keith

Quote:Library mode in Music is greyed out, but remote library w/ mysql works

This is working - i can't reproduce the bug. First go to music source, double tab -> add to database. After that the database radio button is enabled and can be clicked.

Everything is working incl. Coverscraping and ID3 Tag infos.

Had the Problem under Darma (macosx) with remote mysql db. It didn't create the needed views - but for now this doesn't seem to be an issue on ios (tested with ipad und appletv)

Quote:XBMC doesn't load sometimes after 1st launch out of sleep. 2nd works. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=92038

this is still in your broken list, but is already fixed ...

Quote:SMB is read-only. Write access is planned.

Don't know what is meant here, but i have the thumbnail folder redirected to my samba share and it is working and saving new thumbs to it. So this is also fixed already?

Quote:Pictures is loading up thumbs but not full pic?

Works since https://github.com/xbmc/atv2/commit/3e2674227e07aeec1d75642fde67d4daecd4cc20 - and so will in your next nightly build Smile

go go go

Davilla just posted this in another thread:
"Fixed in 10.0-6 release... today."

So looks like another official build is dropping today.
