New build up! 1st post has been updated.

I think this has some audio fixes by gimli.

- dazex - 2011-03-06

The audio rework gimli did on the 27th fixed the downsampling issue people were having. But I noticed that it also introduced a couple of issues. One is the slow playback people were having. I didn't encounter this issue like others here until I fast forward/rewind and saturate the buffer.

While debugging this, I noticed that in 4x mode and beyond, you can still hear audio. Bringing this up with gimli, he took a look at the code and saw the bug and fixed it. That's what this release is. In fast forward/rewind, audio is now muted properly. We were hoping this fix resolves both issues, but unfortunately, from my brief test so far, the slow framerate problem still exist and may even be worst.

My build prior to the audio rework of the 2/27 doesn't exhibit the slow framerate problem, even after extensive fast forward/rewinds.

Anyways, when gimli made this latest fix, I know it was evening time already for him. So we'll have to be patient until we get to the bottom of all this. He's probably dreaming sweet dreams right now.

In the mean time, please test and report back on how this latest build is working for you guys.

Thanks,
-dazex

yes, VideoToolBox does not like that h264 video stream. Most likely it violates h264 spec in some manner.

Tried the latest build (5 Mar). The lag issue still exists. I tried the build with 2 movies (Heat SD and Hurt Locker SD) both had the same issue (super choppy and then AppleTV (Lowtide) rebooted when I tried pressing the Menu button)

Some more info -
AppleTV 4.2.1
XBMC - Keith build 5th Mar 2011
No. of movies - ~482
Using SMB via Seagate Black Armor NAS 1 TB

An older XBMC build build works great with none of these issues I think it was the 17th Feb build (org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2_10.0-7_iphoneos-arm.deb)

Here's the XBMC debug log (from /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences) -

OT: I'm a developer (C++/C) and hope to contribute to this awesome project someday

A note to add:

I'm also getting slight audio drops with HDMI audio. It 'blips' about once every 3 to 5 mins. Noticeable but not super bad. I am not doing any downmixing.

Try and keep up Smile use XBMC's internal smbclient for SMB support.
