Remove XBMC From Apple TV 2 - gapmichael - 2011-02-01

Can someone please let me know how I would remove XBMC from my AppleTV 2?
It's beyond me if I'm honest. The menus are complicated and it's just not for me although I appreciate all the work the devs have done with it.

I'd be SSH'ing via Terminal from a Mac and would really like to follow any instructions on removing it completely.

Regards

Michael

Just follow the instructions here:

Should clean it up all nice for you.

Thanks for the response Shoesy. I was trying to avoid having to do that but hey-ho. I'll get on with that lol.

Thanks again

Michael

Will factory reset remove xbmc from atv2 or just "uninstall" it?

Im looking for a fresh start after fooling around with builds, settings etc - that include deleting the video/music database.

A factory reset will delete XBMC, the jailbreak, everything. As if you do it through iTunes it should reload the stock OS software back on there.

rm -r /private/var/stash/Applications/XBMC.frappliance

rm -r /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC

...or execute this like a charm:

apt-get autoremove --purge org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2

Are you sure this will remove the preferences too?
