Remove XBMC From Apple TV 2 - gapmichael - 2011-02-01 Can someone please let me know how I would remove XBMC from my AppleTV 2? It's beyond me if I'm honest. The menus are complicated and it's just not for me although I appreciate all the work the devs have done with it. I'd be SSH'ing via Terminal from a Mac and would really like to follow any instructions on removing it completely. Regards Michael - Shoesy - 2011-02-01 Just follow the instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4367 Should clean it up all nice for you. - gapmichael - 2011-02-01 Thanks for the response Shoesy. I was trying to avoid having to do that but hey-ho. I'll get on with that lol. Thanks again Michael - braveme - 2012-02-02 Will factory reset remove xbmc from atv2 or just "uninstall" it? Im looking for a fresh start after fooling around with builds, settings etc - that include deleting the video/music database. - deanmv - 2012-02-02 A factory reset will delete XBMC, the jailbreak, everything. As if you do it through iTunes it should reload the stock OS software back on there. - Ned Scott - 2012-02-03 rm -r /private/var/stash/Applications/XBMC.frappliance rm -r /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC - cleverson - 2012-02-04 ...or execute this like a charm: apt-get autoremove --purge org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2 - Memphiz - 2012-02-04 cleverson Wrote:...or execute this like a charm: Are you sure this will remove the preferences too? |
