HD (1080) on Athlon 64 3000+ - calibre45 - 2011-02-05

Hi
What video card would be sufficient to play full hd (1080) movies on my old Athlon 64 3000+ CPU? Is this possible?

Thank you

which GPU cardd slot you have on your motherboard?

AGP? PCI-Express?

A GT210 would be the cheapest if your mobo can take it. I bought one for $10 bucks after mail in rebate and it works pretty darn good.

I've heard, that UVD+ would not be enough for 1080 video, UVD2 is required. Is this true?

Additional multi-media capabilities are included,
with the implementation of Unified Video Decode (UVD)
a special core logic hardware based decode for MPEG-2, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC and VC1.

UVD offers official support for BD-Live through dual video stream decoding
and Picture-in-Picture mode.
Specifically the RV730 features UVD2.2,
which enhances compatibility for MPEG-2/H.264/VC-1 video,
an incremental upgrade over the UVD2 found on the RV770/RV790 based cards.

The Sapphire HD4650 AGP features three outputs, dual DVI and a TV-out.
Included in the box are DVI to VGA adapters and a DVI to HDMI adapter.
