Best way to stream large collection of music to XBMC - marcusjb - 2011-02-13 I have a large collection of music (9000+) on my home server that I want to stream to my office. I'm currently using subsonic, but I want something that will integrate my collection into XBMC. Any suggestions. - jmarshall - 2011-02-14 In the same building or over the web? For the former, smb does just fine. For the latter you'll probably want something else. - marcusjb - 2011-02-14 over the web. - technojunkie - 2011-02-14 You're probably going to have to select 2 solutions. I don't know of anything besides subsonic that will stream over the web. As for streaming to your XBMC box, I'm assuming you don't just want to map a SMB/NFS share and read the files themselves, you'll need a uPnP or DAAP server. That being said, the API for subsonic looks very straightforward, maybe some kind souls with some time to spare will write an addon. - marcusjb - 2011-05-30 just in case you come across this post, the subsonic addon has happened and works like a charm: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=99513&highlight=subsonic |
