The ATV2 has arrived and "Take 11" has been installed, but....

has PVR support been compiled into this binary?

It actually looks a lot different from the iPad version. It still has the 'vertical' Confluence skin in contrast to Windows/Linux/OSX/iPad that all have the horizontal Confluence skin.

There is no "Live TV" in System Settings nor the Home screen.

The standard pvrcient addons are all present though, and I could add and install my ForTheRecord addon too.

On the System Info page, the "PVR service" tab is missing too.

But without the main PVR manager present I can't test/use the ForTheRecord server support.

I did view some recorded Transport Streams using the standard XBMC video player. SD contents play, but choppy identical to the iPad as shown in the movie above. HD content will pay sound, but no video Sad.

To summarise: the version info says "XBMC PRE-11.0 Git:20111024-f9be3c8", that is the same commit as used for the iPad version. But I think no pvr support is present in this binary for the ATV2.

Regards,
Fred

Have you enabled livetv after enabling the pvr addon?

- rivo - 2011-11-12

It's strange because ios and atv2 versions look same

I think the correct steps are :

- Install the latest XBMC stable release for ATV2
- Install take 11.
-Enable "live tv" in settings
-Enable pvrclient addon

Greetings

More BlurryCam video.... - Red_F - 2011-11-18

Thanks for all the good advice my forum allies Wink.

It turned out that the ATV2 that was sent to me had an earlier XBMC version installed that was only partially upgraded to "Take 11". So I completely removed XBMC, then re-installed the Cydia version and replaced it with "Take 11". Problem solved.

And yes, the ForTheRecord addon works fine on the ATV2 too. Apart from the choppy video playback that seems to be an issue in recent builds as displayed by the number of posts in this forum.

In sequence, I try to show you:
  • First minute: switching on TV and AppleTV 2 booting.
  • Then showing the version info of XBMC, configuration of the FTR addon.
  • Live TV, video still plays choppy just like the iPad. This seems to be a real XBMC issue on this platform, many complaints on the xbmc.org forum about it.
  • Showing EPG and Timer overview.
  • Playing a recorded TV show. Yep, choppy too.
  • Adding a new Timer from the EPG to add a new show to record.
  • Verifying the new Timer is really there.

And here is the link to the HD video: http://youtu.be/nmYzk85qw_0?hd=1

Cheers,
Fred

Ah, youthful impatience Smile

Indeed, it is an addon in development. Currently I'm trying (together with the developer of the MediaPortal addon) to get it merged in the PVR branch from Dushmaniac (Lars). Should we manage to get it merged, then you'll automagically have it when a successor of "Take 11" becomes available.

If you really feel you need it *now*, you can build it from my Github repo which you can find at: https://github.com/Red-F/xbmc.git.

It just looks so awesome for something in closed development - I will wait o masterful one as building from repos is outside my capability - finally a windows tv server near-solution for ATV2!!!!

(now if only the TS buffering gets fixed...)

I felt I needed it Smile
So I decided to build it myself.

After alot of research, and much help from Red_F,
I got it working today.
Video is indeed still stuttering.

I remembered having a nightly that didn't have this TS stuttering.
Too bad I can't find it anymore, but I did manage to find the deb name from .bash_history:

Code:
xbmc-20111005-fc24dcb-master-ios.deb

Afaicr, this build had no TS stuttering, and I feel stupid for deleting the .deb now.
In most cases you can copy the old libs to get a working version.

So if anyone out there still has a build from around October;
please upload your .deb!

choppy SD - Kjetil N - 2011-12-29

Hi,

After installing Take 11 I've got choppy video on SD channels.
This is new, but I dont know if it is Tvheadend or the new xbmc build that i causing it. Has anyone seen the same? avi and mkv play fine.

@devs
