more newbie questions - espn3luvr - 2012-02-25
hi all - like martinsono, i am having problems accessing espn3. i am on comcast (internet) but am not a cable subscriber, so there are no login issues afaik. espn3 is supported by my ISP; i can see it on my laptop.
i've spent a couple of hours looking through posts (and reread 571 many, many times) but have not been able to get this to work. Like martinsono, i can see the lists of events but when i try to stream them i get the dreaded "script failed" error message).

other issues i'm having include the inability to locate my SWID. when i go to http://broadband.espn.go.com/espn3/auth/userData it returns this:

and i can't figure out how else to get my SWID (i'm on Mac OS X so wireshark is not an option).
i have gone through the plugin settings and unchecked everything but "play through xbmc" and made sure that the login option is disabled. i put in userdata.xml and cookies.lwp, although i'm not sure i need those files given that i'm not logging in, and because i couldn't find my SWID that area is blank.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

@espn3louvr i had the same problem too. but it worked for me when i went to espn.go.com and opend another tab with the link http://broadband.espn.go.com/espn3/auth/userData. at first i was using safari then i used chrome and it worked!.

Yes, you create the files according to post #571, but make sure you input your SWID and provider in the areas that are bolded in #571.

so 3 questions , 1) do i have to use the "{" and "}"
in the swid part or just the numbers
2) the 2 files are in ...profile\XBMC\addons\plugin.video.espn3 or ...profile\XBMC\userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.espn3
3)is my provider ok or do i have to try another to watch espn and espn2
(f*r*o*n*t*i*e*r*_*v*r*z*) without * obv

All right, so Comcast must have changed things up...Up until today I've been able to use the ESPN3 access, despite being on another provider.
Doctored the files, per post #571, but still can't access it. Just in time for me to miss the Big 12 tourney games
At least my school doesn't play until tomorrow...

I'll be a little more specific in my notes, though I'm away from my computer running XBMC for the moment...
What's happened is that, up until now, I've been able to watch ESPN3 content, despite not being a Comcast (or any other cable) subscriber. The addon was allowing me to access all of the ESPN3 stuff, but isn't now...I can still watch ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU with no problem.
Is this something others have had happen? Is this something based on ESPN or Comcast changes, possibly?
I'll get a log pasted later, too...
