RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - stephanstricker - 2012-07-13

I finally fixed it by disabling the "extended network user". I use AT&T and I dont need to login when I am at home. It seems like the ESPN page detects that I am coming from an AT&T account. It does not really matter if I enter my user information or not to watch ESPN3. When I try to enable ESPN1 and ESPN2 I get a error. This is probably because I am not allowed to watch this from my AT&T account.

Would it be possible to add a bitrate option of "variable" like it uses on watchespn.com? I always get kicked off when using a specific bitrate even though I have a 20 mbps connection. Because of this I have to watch through Firefox instead because I can never keep connected for more than a few minutes using this addon.

Here is what I did to fix it and it has to do with post #571 & #574 (mind you, I don't know what you need to do to fix it if you dont have a subscription or if your subscription is with anyone but Time Warner Cable. The following steps worked for me).

Those instructions got this plug-in working for me on Comcast. Thanks for the how-to, cmadooly!

Is ESPN working for you?

Here is what I did to fix it and it has to do with post #571 & #574 (mind you, I don't know what you need to do to fix it if you dont have a subscription or if your subscription is with anyone but Time Warner Cable. The following steps worked for me).

1- In FINDER, click on GO --> Go to folder. Then type ~/Library/Application Support/XBMC

2- Navigate to userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.espn3

3- The two files we need to work on are: Cookies.lwp and userdata.xml.

4- Log into any computer and go to ESPN.com and watch ESPN on your computer. Once it is running successfully (meaning, ESPN has asked you for your provider and login/pw), click on this link: http://broadband.espn.go.com/espn3/auth/userData
I use Chrome as my browser.

5- Copy the entire content of the link above (except for the heading 'This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.')
* Note two things from the link I pasted above. First- the Name tag (which says twc for me). Second- the swid field. You will need those 2 items for step 7

6- Rename (or delete) the userdata.xml file and paste the contents from step 5 into this file and save.

7- Open the cookies.lwp file (using textedit) and paste what I have below. Except, take the SWID you got from step 5 and enter it between the curly brackets. Also note that I put down 'twc' as the provider in 2 locations below (twc= Time Warner Cable). Then save cookies.lwp

#LWP-Cookies-2.0
Set-Cookie3: SWID={SWID GOES HERE}"; path="/"; domain=".go.com"; path_spec; domain_dot; expires="2031-10-28 03:56:20Z"; version=0
Set-Cookie3: espn360affiliate1=twc; path="/"; domain=".go.com"; path_spec; expires="2012-04-25 03:56:20Z"; version=0
Set-Cookie3: espnAffiliate=twc; path="/"; domain=".go.com"; path_spec; domain_dot; expires="2011-10-28 20:36:20Z"; version=0

8- Open XBMC and navigate to the ESPN add-on and go into settings.

9- Check off the following:
* Play in XBMC. (Disable to use Browser).
* Use Custom User Files (this allows the addon to use the files we edited above).
* Username (enter the username for your provider)
* Password (enter the password for your provider)
* Cable Provider (in my case it is Time Warner Cable).
* Channels ESPN/ESPN2/ESPN3

10- Click OK and watch ESPN.

The steps I used above worked for me. Hopefully it works for you too.

Thanks, but I couldn't get by step one. I'm not computer savvy. Is this seriously the only way to watch ESPN or ESPN 2 in XBMC? Is there a way someone could fix the plug in?

This seems a little bit more confusing than what it should be.

but.... if you can not regularly view WatchESPN content on a regular browser, then you will need to configure some files.

If you can view WatchESPN content through your cable/internet provider, you should be able to just enter the correct information in the configure settings of the plugin.

I can view WatchESPN content through my internet provider, but I don't know how to configure settings for the plug in to work, except if I only choose ESPN3 without my log in.

Is ESPN working for you?

No, just the replays, but even those weren't working for me before the fix cmadooly posted.

RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - rudawgr - 2012-07-20

ok guys i got it working...this is what i did. (keep in mind that i have time Warner cable)

1. log in to espn3 using Google chrome
2. open this website http://broadband.espn.go.com/espn3/auth/userData
3. copy everything from <user> to </user>
4 open winscp or cyber duck and go to /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.espn3
5. open userdata.xml and highlight <user> to </user> and paste step 3
6. save and reboot! you done.

this is what i did and it work for me so give it a shoot

*YOU MUST REPLACE THE librtmp.0.dylib WITH THE LATEST ONE IN ORDER TO WORK...navigate to /private/var/stash/Applications/XBMC.frappliance/Frameworks

* also keep in mind you still have to enable esn, espn2 esp3, espnu, goal line and, buzzer beater in add-on setting

I'm assuming replays on espn3. It is bit confusing with the name(espn3) and what they actually stream. Though the site is called espn3, they stream videos from espn, espn2 and espn3. At least with comcast, you can watch streams only from espn3(with several workarounds posted earlier. The addon as it is will not work!) though you may have espn/espn2 cable subscription and can watch it the browser.

RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - slappula - 2012-07-29

I just jailbroke 5.0.2 and installed XBMC on my ATV2. I've run BlueCop's ESPN3 once in order to populate all of the directories. I still don't see a userdata.xml file. Should there be one there or do I need to create? I've done the default.py, librtmp fixes and filled in login information in the plugin settings, but I still get script errors. Anyone have any suggestions?

RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - Astro2004 - 2012-07-31

Windows 7 64 bit, XBMC, valid comcast login. Not working.

I can login online and watch espn3 and can not with this plugin.

EDIT:

Ok, added the proper files to the add_on data. cookies and swid. I can now login and I can see whats there, but trying to playback anything results in a scrpt failure.

RE: [RELEASE] ESPN3.com Addon - slappula - 2012-07-31

Got it working on the ATV2 with Time Warner. Here's my documentation. Hope it helps somebody else get this running more quickly.

Install BlueCop Repository using these instructions:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW-TO:Install_an_add-on_from_a_zip_file_on_ATV2
http://code.google.com/p/bluecop-xbmc-repo/downloads/list

Under the Settings-Add On menu in XBMC, use the Configure option under the ESPN plugin. Verify/set these options:
Play in XBMC = On
User Custom User Files = On
Enable Login = On
Use your ESPN3 username and password.
Cable Provider = Time Warner

Update librtmp file using these instructions:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Librtmp

Follow the instructions in post #1299 here:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=95053&pid=1151724#pid1151724

Make sure to also refer to posts #571 & #574 since it isn't clear how the userdata.xml needs to be formatted. I'm not sure if the cookies.lwp file is needed, but I put it out there anyway. In my case, both of these files had to be created from scratch.
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=95053&page=58

This is the part that was unclear to me. You need to replace your default.py file AND edit it to include your SWID and affiliate for your particular cable provider (captured in a previous step). The SWID has to be changed in two places. See post #1255:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=95053&pid=1130994&highlight=default.py#pid1130994

Exit XBMC back to ATV2 main page. Restart XBMC. Start ESPN Video Add In. Enjoy!

Many thanks to XBMC debs, Davilla, FireCore, BlueCop, rudawgr, dfa82, Ned Scott, and anyone else I may have forgotten.
