BlackBerry PlayBook XBMC Interface App - q649 - 2011-02-23

Anyone know if an app is in the works for the PlayBook (besides accessing via the standard web interface)?

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

Thanks

None on the team has a playbook afaik and as such no official is in the works. Without the hardware it will never happen either so someone need to donate the hardware for us to take a poke at it and even then its not really sure we will do it Smile

This is also a perfect place where the community overall can do apps which are unofficial but still rocks.

XMBC Lite for Playbook - devinepaul - 2011-03-31

XBMC Lite Remote

I am not connected with this add-on or it's development.

Additionally, I have not tested the add-on since I don't have a Playbook.

there are currently xbmc interface apps on appworld for the playbook

i have used some and they work very well with my xbmc setup

A Playbook port would be incredible. Hopefully as the Playbook becomes a more refined product and popularity increases, we will see a XBMC interface in the future.

I thought i heard somewhere that the playbook would support Android apps?

**edit**

new my mind wasn't playing tricks on me:

looks like support for 2.3 but no support for 3.0.

BlackBerry PlayBook - gfrost - 2011-06-28

Hi there,

If I provided you with a BlackBerry PlayBook - is this something you could pursue? I would be thrilled (as I'm sure many other BlackBerry PlayBook owners would be) if XBMC could be ported to the PlayBook.

Let me know your thoughts,

Thanks!

Well if you have one you would like to donate that would be nice. Not sure if you where asking for a remote application or port of xbmc? obviously we could never promise anything but if a developer has one in its hands its a lot more probable Smile

If you have one to donate its better if you do it to the foundation, it can decide where to send it (may not be me that is the best fit for example) http://xbmc.org/about/contact/ the normal contact way is probably the easiest and best fit for this

Cheers,
Tobias

Could anyone do some poking with the Native SDK - http://us.blackberry.com/developers/tablet/ before hardware is provided?

As I understand, open beta is coming out soon.

I am currently running the official XBMC Android app on my PlayBook running the developer beta software....

Would the XBMC foundation be interested in releasing on AppWorld with possible tweaks...

Please see the following
https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/android/

It is very simple to convert Android apps and the XBMC Android app is working very well on my PlayBook and this is with a straight convert of the .apk to .bar

this would be awesome. the android app is fantastic and it would be great to see it on the playbook.

I am really thinking of buying a playbook and the OS2 beta is making it easier for my decision to buy one.

Which android app were you using? Do you mind sharing the bar file so that I can test on OS 2.0?

Thanks,
