IIRC, some of the info was grabbed using the API, other info was taken from reading the source of the web pages.
Since the charge was levied on use of the API, brightsr modified the scripts so that all the info is grabbed from the web page, not using the API.
This does mean that if Weather.com change the layout of their pages, the addon will break (as has happened on a few occasions). Brightsr was able to fix the scripts in the past when this happened.
The default weather addon using Weather.com doesn't work any more as this only uses the API, hence the change to using Weather Underground.

None of the skins I use will display weather after I enter my location. Is this just an issue with Eden?

Are you using a skin that has support for Weather+? Confluence for Eden does (the one for Dharma did not).

Not to be rude, but nPVR (gbpvr) has a plugin that uses accuweather as a source. This one has never let me down. It also is working right now.
I don't know how the guy did it, I guess he used the api but I never had to pay or subscribe to anything.
Maybe somebody can have a peek at that sourcecode, i don't know, just a suggestion

I keep forgetting what the conditional weather setting folder numbers are all about... I have a nice slide show built up and a skin that uses them. So I'm sure this is a redundant post... but it's a nice place to put it, should I lose it again

That is already supported. If you select a location in Italy, video from ilmeteo.it will be automatically loaded. If not, please let me know your location and post your log.

You were right: I tried to change the skin from Aeon MQ3 to Confluence and it show me the video.
So the problem is the skin: infact the "Video" option under the "Maps & Radar" option it's disabled (gray text)

any updates when accuweather will work again ?
accuweather is one of the few that has a good coverage for european country's,
also use it on my phone.
