Just my two cents:

there is a way to encrypt it with some programming stuff:

that would be: encrypt your file (with a key), decrypt it with the plugin (if python itself won't et you: what about javascript, with java that should be possible).

I mean we all appreciate your effort and like you to do it in the future as well.
But i HATE it if people give the links away and psread them all over the net and everybody has them and that's it. all links go down! That's just me!

I don't think limitation is a good longterm idea.
You should be able to choose who should watch the links.

Another idea is to post the XML on another forum (your own perhaps or xbmchub) and close that forum if enough people registered.
I know it's harsh, but what can you do if you like to keep it free and keep the link running?!?

PS: some dude posted your links in xbmchub (called Whistler0224). I hope that's you!!!

And look at that: some other guy called "villyidol" is posting an XML @ pastebin with most of your links!!! And this is not the guy who made livetv plugin!

Have a look: http://www.xbmchub.com/oldforums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=575&start=70#p7179

I think you should have a talk with the forum admin over there!!!

Donations are a good idea but make sure you let ppl know it's in 'goodwill' as you don't want ppl coming back to you demanding for it to be back up if it ever goes down.
Just my thoughts...

No that's not me. Report him or somethingSmile
And encryption wouldn't work either.
When there are ways to encrypt something, there are always ways to dectrypt it.
There are two solutions.
1) The ip limit that I'm already using.
2) Change the ip's every now or then.
Which again means that you have to use my list if you wanna watch the channels.

The problem is anybody can copy your xml from the http link you publish.

blackoutworm firstly let me say many thanks for your efforts to bring us some great streams, but I feel as soon as you shared the Sky Sports channels you probably sealed your own fate.

Many wont thank me for saying this and I'm kind of cutting off my nose to spite my face by doing so, but unless you're willing to spend big bucks on large server capacity you are going to constantly have this problem,
even though it means I'll most likely have to go back to sopcast and other means to get my sporting fixes not available on my cable package I do think for the Sky channels you should keep a seperate xml for you and your trusted friends and just share the more freely available channels (E.G. the TVSector ones) on your main xml.

Just my 2 cents but I'd hate to see one of the good guys go down over this.

whistleblow is delted
what about villyidol?

I know it won't work, but let's put it this way: you couls tsop your links being posted by every idiot reading here!

limiting is an idea, but think of it that way: from the 100 are about 30 from this forum!
And changing IP's it's a better idea.

But there must be another way.

This is why i told him: use encrytion with a simple key and algorithm not published, just used in the video-plugin itself.

Or

publish the links in hiw own forum! not this one!

Any tom, dick or harry could join the forum and just publish the links ...

BW is going to have to vet everybody under that scheme ...

The internet is full of idiots who'll work as hard as possible just to break any code so they can ponce around saying 'me, me, me ... look at clever me'.

You still didn't get the point:

1.) his own forum: he could decide who can come in or not. At least not 50000 people would have the links but 100 or so (even if some of 100 publish them, it is less then some of 50000 publishing them)

2.) I didn't say it can't be broken, but a not EVERY idiot will publish it, because not EVERY idiot can break it => not EVERYone publish it, only some

3.) my idea is his own forum and watching only possible with your own username and own password!!! Only difference to pay sites: regsitration is limited and free of charge!
