- ack1 - 2011-07-19 Seems I cant play a movie wich is RARed. Unrared its fine. Running the new 18/7. got smb network. Code: 09:33:12 T:121913344 M:107712512 DEBUG: CFileSMB::Open - opened E/movieh/moviename.2006.REPACK.720p.BDRip.XviD.AC3/moviename.2006.REPACK.720p.BDRip.XviD.AC3.part60.rar, fd=10001 Anything obvious in there ? - Ned Scott - 2011-07-19 ack1 Wrote:Seems I cant play a movie wich is RARed. Unrared its fine. Compressed RARs or uncompressed RARs? I know XBMC can play them uncompressed (and in multiple parts) but it won't work if the RAR is compressed. - keith - 2011-07-19 So, the 2 issues I see still open are: banner art/thumbnails loading slow. I noticed this, but need to go see if 'extract thumbnails' disabling fixes this. Delay in starting the video. Up to 20 seconds instead of less than 5. Any other issues people see? Otherwise it seems to fix: Remote Library Scraping Subtitles - Memphiz - 2011-07-19 its fast for me on atv2 and slow on ipad ... very strange here ... - solidunit - 2011-07-20 ack1 Wrote:Seems I cant play a movie wich is RARed. Youre not saving much (if any) space Pressing back when playing a MOV video in picture slideshow mode crashes the ATV - kasperskie - 2011-07-20 First off, thanks for the great work on the ATV2 XBMC build ! The good news : commit 84082ccdc633843b585 on 17-Jul-2011 fixes the bug where a video file would not be played (shows black screen) when using picture slideshow mode. The bad news : The fix is not 100% as with the 18-Jul-2011 build the ATV2 crashes when pressing back when a MOV video is playing in picture slideshow mode. Details -------------------------------------------------------- Platform : atv2 Version : iOS 4.3 build 8F305 /w Apple TV software 4.2.2 Build : 18-Jul-2011 (b2f2fa7) Install method : dpkg Settings : Clean Preference/XBMC Dir with the following modifications : + System -> Pictures -> Automatically Generate Thumbnails : OFF + System -> Pictures -> Show Video Files in Listing : ON + System -> Video -> File Lists -> Extract Thumbnails and video information : OFF + Configured a FTP share Steps to reproduce : - Enter the Pictures Section - Navigate to a MOV video file - Press 'Menu', 'Start Slideshow here' <video starts playing> - Press 'Back' when the video is playing, the atv2 will crash Log file : http://pastebin.com/7ED9tJuH Crash file : http://pastebin.com/02DYwPZm MOV Sample : http://www.mediafire.com/?wtgez8qbxgbno4z Notes : 1. Crash also happens when using a SAMBA share instead of FTP 2. Crash happens for multiple MOV files tested (from S95 Canon camera), the crashing is consistent 4. Crash not observed with an AVI that I tried ! 5. Crash does not occur using the build from 26/05/2011 (2b32c07), reference Log file : http://pastebin.com/2mJ8uNUZ ---- Ticket #11761 - Haohmaru - 2011-07-20 solidunit Wrote:This is not meant to troll, but why in the world would you leave your movies compressed? Given the low price of disk space these days you could do what I do: Keep the compressed version in one directory for seeding and the uncompressed version elsewhere for viewing. I keep the compressed version until seeding is complete and generally delete the uncompressed version once I've seen it. - jj702 - 2011-07-20 keith Wrote:So, the 2 issues I see still open are: the 'extract thumbnails' option doesn't fix it, on or off. - fluffylob - 2011-07-20 keith Wrote:So, the 2 issues I see still open are: I concur with this Keith. I also agree with jj702, disabling extract thumbnails doesn't help with the thumb / fanart / poster performance - or to be more specific, it has always been disabled for me. I'm happily running 18-07 as the benefit of the fixes outweighs the problems, IMO. - ack1 - 2011-07-20 Quote:This is not meant to troll, but why in the world would you leave your movies compressed? Youre not saving much (if any) space Is there any real reason to be extracting them ? Ive never had any problems with them beeing RARed. (On a windows htpc) Maybe theres some benefit having them extracted but Im not sure what that would be. - jlor - 2011-07-20 ack1 Wrote:Is there any real reason to be extracting them ? Ive never had any problems with them beeing RARed. (On a windows htpc) iOS platforms do not have as much raw power as a windows htpc so the extra power needed to extract a movie and play it can be too much for the platform to handle. I know my atv2 usually uses 70-90% CPU while playing 720p mkv's, if I were to RAR those as well.. I'm fairly sure it would lag - ack1 - 2011-07-20 ah yes, you are probably right. As it seems small episodes does work RARed. Anywho I made a small .bat to sort this. Code: for /F %%i in ('dir /AD /B') do unrar x /y %%i\*.rar %%i\ & del %%i\*.r** Seems to be doing the trick. But its probably going to take a day or two - Dealwagon - 2011-07-21 Any mirrors for the nightly? one listed in post 1 seems dead.. - Sipheren - 2011-07-21 If you need someone to host it I have hosting I don;t mind letting you guys use.
