Thx, dreamhost should perform much better, the other box is a cheap $21/yr VPS, but I do happen to get 2-5MB/s from it, so I can't complain too much. But I'll let you know if I run into more problems.

Well to be honest, Dreamhost really is the most awful webhost in existence. Not just for packing their servers so tightly that downtime isn't uncommon, but also their horrible business practices.
If hosting is an issue, I could easily set you up with an FTP account on my server, which has oodles of extra bandwidth right now. (200GB is a drop in the bucket, it currently has 3TB of bandwidth a month)

Thanks for the response Ned.
I have actually managed to resolve the problem of any videos I launch through icefilms crashing by simply factory resetting the appletv2 and loading just the official stable build. However, of course this still limits me from using the latest skins/other features in the nightly build.
As a result, I factory reset my apple tv and once again tried to get the nightly build going by following the steps posted below:
EDIT: jailbreak instructions removed because they're off topic and incorrect (missing step to install official XBMC build which is required before installing an unofficial build, ref)
After all of this, once again, my videos crash immediately when loading through icefilms and I still cannot install the bulk of skins out there as I'm still getting a dependencies not met notification.
Not sure where I'm lacking in my steps above. I'm at work so I will post the debug log later this evening once I'm back home if anyone can help. In the mean time, can anyone comment on potential steps that I'm missing/where I've gone wrong?

I am having the same problem, the last 2 nightly builds will not play nicely with streaming sites like icefilms, this is a problem on both the atv2 and ipads, its actually more of a pain on the ipad due to the official build being touch screen unfriendly.
On both the atv2 and ipad once you click to play the megaupload link in icefilms it starts to play for maybe 2 seconds then goes back to the megaupload window?
I also added videodevil to a friends atv
and the streams also plays for around 2 seconds and then closes back to the menu ?On both the atv2 and the ipad the only solution appears to revert back to official build and everything works fine again.
Hopefully a fix can be found soon

Still no xbmc.log file, so there's no way for anyone to know what's going on. You need to enable debugging and post your xbmc.log to pastebin, then link to it in your post.

Hey everyone (especially the devs!),

you can find an issue, that lets xbmc crash at start when using mysql-db. Because I use a newer build than keiths nightly I made an own thread, but it would be nice if you could look into this. I guess it has to do with the changes from boost threads to pthreads - but that's just a guess.

Have you tried the XBMC touch skin by Jezz_X it's here, Alpha 0.7 is the latest downloadable build.

Yes fulotop I have tried that skin and others but to be honest I prefer they standard skin and will struggle through until the nightly build is sorted, thanks anyway for the thought.

I don't have a problem with gestures on the nightly skin this works fine, the streaming sites like icefilms do not seem to like the last few builds so I am forced to go back to the official build and that skin dosnt work well with the touchscreen.
I'm currently out replying on my phone, either tonight or in the morning I'll post a log of the stream problems

Just quickly, I'm getting a crash when coming back from pause. Seems to only be when I'm sitting on pause for a while (maybe coming back from Dim screensaver maybe?)
