Getting Better - Crispy3M - 2011-04-19

Getting better... uploaded the latest update and now I can hear the live stream for CBC Hockey Night In Candada but still can't see it.

Kudos to those who are constantly working on this addon to make it truly awesome.

C3M

Ps... Heading to the Bar to watch... LOL!

i think anyone looking to stream live hockey games from cbc would be better off looking at the live stream add-on

i'm certain someone there could help you out.

canada on demand doesn't stream any content. it only plays whatever recorded content is found on those sites

Crispy3M Wrote:Hi and thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, they sure do... I was watching the game online with my Mac but was unable to get a stream with Canada on Demand to my ATV2.

I'm a total Noob with all this but I was able to navigate to the live streams and I think I even had it once, but in the end I just got and error about not being able to open the stream.

I've run through most of the other channels etc and they work very slick. If we could just get live streaming going this would be THE kick @ss addon!

Cheers,

C3M

I've found the same thing, it streams perfectly on my windows xbmc, but I get sound only on my ATV2. It's been like this since way before the playoffs. It's not the COD's plugin that's at fault, because if I sniff the rtmp manually and try to play it in an strm file on my ATV2, it's the same thing. A long time ago, I had looked in the xbmc logs from my atv2 and had started looking up the error messages and I finally decided that the problem must be with how CBC formats their streams.

I never really put much effort into it because the quality of CBC's live streams is typically so poor anyway.

Very true... but I'd save money on beer not having to go the bar to watch! Big Grin

Baloney. It plays whatever it can scrape from the websites. I used it to live stream the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and the Tim Hortons Brier on TSN. TSN made them available live and put them on the web site, so CoD was able to play them.

If the Hockey Night in Canada live isn't working in CoD but it is on the web site, then there's an error either with the web scraping or with the streaming (if it's with the streaming, it might be a librtmp or an xbmc bug, though).

In order to fix things, a logfile will be needed.

Log File - Crispy3M - 2011-04-22

@bolverk,

I'm away for the Easter weekend but when I get back, I'll do some reading on how to create a "Log File" and then post one.

Cheers,

Wow, stumpled across this last night and installed it. I've been humming and hawing on cutting the cable... I think this will push me over - been watching a lot of netflix and if I can grab my news and sports and a few other things with COD I'm set!

Thanks a ton for all the work that's been put into this. I thought I'd try the hockey streaming last night, and just like teefer22, I get sound and no video on my ATV2. So here's my help with a copy of my XBMC.log

https://www.yousendit.com/download/VnByK0dpZ2dUME94dnc9PQ

It's pretty much at the end of the log. All I did was browse a little bit, try a stream or two, then try hockey, and then shut it down.

Hope this helps! Thanks again....

This is AMAZING! Loving it. But I can't figure out how in the world to bookmark on my Apple TV. What am I missing? I see the bookmarks folder but I don't know how to add a bookmark. Please help!

Thanks for all the hard work!

is there any live sport or live news feed within the hundreds of menu choices?

atvuser2: It sounds like I'm having the same problem,

Here is a snippet from the log file:

20:10:12 T:2896 M:2755698688 WARNING: HandShake: Type mismatch: client sent 6, server answered 9
20:10:12 T:2896 M:2755698688 WARNING: HandShake: Server not genuine Adobe!

A google tells me this is a rtmp related problem?

I have a win7 x64 install with an up to date XBMC and COD add-on.

Read through the old thread starting with my post on page 3 here http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=96076&highlight=ctv+properties&page=3 This appears to be an issue with new code on the websites that XBMC 10.1 stable does not yet support.

Solutions so far include installing a patch under windows <librtmp> I think (also covered in the current thread I think), for others, it appears we are stuck waiting for the next version of XBMC.

This problem persists across several different add-ons (south park, etc...)

Thanks, everything is up and running again. Somewhere I must have checked off "My librtmp is awesome" and that broke things. I patched up the new librtmp posted earlier anyway and now I can tick that setting.

Fantastic add-on.

One thing I have noticed. If I watch "Latest broadcast" of CBC's "The National", it starts up and plays fine. But if I stop it half way through, I can't start the same video again. I found the same thing when watching the Canadiens vs Bruins Hockey game last night. It worked great until I stopped it, then I couldn't start it back up again. Even exiting xbmc and starting it back up didn't work.

Not a huge deal, but just thought I'd mention it in case it's something that's not too hard to troubleshoot/fix.

Here is my xbmc.log:
http://pastebin.ca/2051559

I've noticed this when watching latest broadcast of the national on both my ATV2 and xbmc 10.0 stable on my PC.

Any suggestions on how I can clear this out after I stop it, so that I can play it again?

- andre_pl - 2011-04-28

It looks like a page is being cached that shouldn't. the easiest workaround is to delete the cache directory. on linux its generally in ~/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.canada.on.demand/cache/

I'll try to roll out a fix by tomorrowish.

- SDM2011 - 2011-05-07

The plugin has been working great. I've only noticed three minor issues:

1. The Daily Show extended interviews never play. The episodes all work great though.
2. If I stream two Daily Show episodes one after another, the volume of the second one is much quieter than the first. I doubt this is an issue with this plugin specifically, it's more likely something to do with the streaming library.
3. As others have reported, pausing for too long a period causes the streaming to suddenly stop soon after the video resumes, ie. I hit pause, wait for30 seconds, hit resume, video plays for maybe 2 seconds, then stops and goes back to the menu listing. I'm not sure you can do anything about this either, but buffering the video while paused would be ideal.
