RE: [RELEASE] Canada On Demand (Successor to CTV Properties) - stefan416 - 2013-03-12

Sorry if this has been answered before, Im new to XBMC. How do I go about setting up the live TV. I unstalled xbmc on my PC installed nextPVR, enabled it in xbmc and installed the link from the zip file. I dont know what to do next :S It just gives me a blank list in the Live TV tab. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

stefan, way off man. I think there is a whole section of the forums for PVR... this isn't it though.

Well I find that generally this add-on works well. I imagine it could be a massive amount of work to stay current with all the various broadcaster websites and the changes they make.

One thing I noticed a while ago, and was reminded of yesterday is that pretty much all CBC Radio programs don't play. I just get Script Failed errors trying to play any CBC Radio content..

It would be great if you could look into this.

Using Marius fork 7.7 on Frodo, Win 7

Haha damn, could you point me in the right direction. Other than using XBMC as a media player playing movies off my NAS Im pretty much in the dark with the other functions of it. I stumbled on the thread looking for a way to stream channels such as CNN etc to my PC since I cannot get it via rogers (only participating providers in the US). I would appreciate some direction in setting up this streaming tv unless Im just way off on the entire thread's concept :S

Stefan

Are you using the latest version (https://github.com/marius-muja/plugin.video.canada.on.demand/archive/master.zip ?

Sorry for the long delay in responding. Yes, I am using:
XBMC Frodo 12.0 Official release (Windows)
Canada On-Demand 0.7.8

I can open "CTV Local News > City" but can't get a listing of any video clips. This used to work with the same version of CoD. Change to the CTV local news website?

Hi all.. sort of a noob here..

I keep getting the same problem with every link.

it says external player active, press ok when playback is done.

I am hoping to get vlc working as the external media player but i can't seem to figure out where it is stored on my android device so that i can put that in the xml file in user data.

if someone could please help me out..Huh

RE: [RELEASE] Canada On Demand (Successor to CTV Properties) - 3CupsOfCoffee - 2013-03-21

@trytony

I found that VLC on Android never played any stream from Canada on Demand.
VLC would start, have a rtmp address at the top but no playback.

Libstagefright (Experimental Android hardware decoding build) has worked for most channels except Bravo.
If you're brave you can get it here. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=152005

Hello,
First off, a HUGE thank you for this app. My wife LOVES it.
I have a quick question about the History channel. I want to watch the new VIKINGs show which appears to be available when I navigate to the website on my computer. However, I can't find it anywhere when I use the app in XBMC? Am i missing it somewhere?

RE: [RELEASE] Canada On Demand (Successor to CTV Properties) - pdops - 2013-03-21

Hi I'm using raspbmc and just installed the zip file from github as the other link gives a 404 error. It shows as Canada On-Demand 0.7.4 as compared to cflemm's post above mentions Canada On-Demand 0.7.8 Have I got the most current version? (the changelog link is also 404 error)

Anyways I see 'script plugin error' when I try to play something (I've tried a dozen different selections)

OK I've installed this file but the version still shows as Canada On-Demand 0.7.4 in RaspbMC. Is that normal? None of the shows will play for me.

RE: [RELEASE] Canada On Demand (Successor to CTV Properties) - mrbuddy - 2013-03-24

@pdops I'm not running raspbmc but that doesn't sound right. Should show 0.7.8. Did the old version uninstall completely?

Something not right here.

I installed xbmc on my android tablet first time last night. Installed COD 0.7.8. Watched an episode of Haven on Showcase no problem.

This morning, turned it on and can't play anything. I can navigate through the menus fine but it will only play the first second or so of any show and then fall back to the menu.

I think so. Just downloaded the file again and did this as a test:

Uninstalled via the GUI
Rebooted
Reinstalled from zip
Rebooted
Version still shows as 0.7.4 and nothing works

Poking around inside the zip file
plugin.video.canada.on.demand-master.zip

The addon.xml file shows
name="Canada On Demand" version="0.7.8"

The changelog.txt file shows
0.7.4 - Added setting to hide 'In Development'

The README file shows
This version is a fork of the andrepl's original version. Many
non-working stations have been removed.

So it appears I have the version with the mariusmuja fork

Is it possible that it's auto updating back to the andrepl fork??

Later on today I'll dig into the file system to make sure that all the files are gone when it's uninstalled using the GUI and then try another reinstall.

OK after uninstalling via the GUI there were some additional files still left in the folder:
/home/pi/.xbmc/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.canada.on.demand

Raspbmc may well clean those out at the next reboot but for this test I deleted the folder

This is where it gets bizarre. In the zip file the addon.xml file shows
name="Canada On Demand" version="0.7.8"

when installed on the RPi from the zip file the addon is in this folder
/home/pi/.xbmc/addons/plugin.video.canada.on.demand-master

and the addon.xml file shows
name="Canada On Demand" version="0.7.4"

I'm not sure why that happens and I'm unable to watch any selection (script errors).

Mariusmuja - I actually noticed the same thing as above. What i found is that HistoryTV seems to have changed their JSON slighly (maybe all their new shows are going into a new playertag). I haven't fully tested this fix but this seems to work:

In the canwest.py file, in the HistoryTV class:
Code:
def get_categories_json(self,arg):
        #url = CanwestBaseChannel.get_categories_json(self,arg) + '&query=CustomText|PlayerTag|z/History%20Player%20-%20Video%20Center' #urlencode
        url = CanwestBaseChannel.get_categories_json(self,arg) + '&query=CustomText|PlayerTag|z/History%20Video%20Centre' #urlencode
        logging.debug('get_categories_json: %s'%url)
        return url

For some reason, vikings shows up in it's own main category with this fix. I can't seem to figure out why but it does add a fair bit of the missing content and everything seems to work.

Also, I would like to recommend that if you make any fixes to your code, that you bump the version number up a little bit each time you publish an updated version. That way when people post with issues that have already been fixed by you, we can tell them the newest version is 0.X.X. Just my opinion. Thanks again for all your hard work on this.
