andre_pl Wrote:I'm running it on my HTPC with no problems, but my XBMC is compiled from source. do you have a recent xbmc build? you might want to try getting a new build from either the PPA or compiling it from source.

Dan, the one who posted those instructions had success with a stock 10.1 out of the ubuntu repos.

Well, the stock 10.1 + compiled librtmp was definitely no joy for me. However, this PPA did the trick:

https://launchpad.net/~team-xbmc/+archive/unstable

...after installing the xbmc package from there, and compiling the latest librtmp per the above, all content is playing back nicely - even the "join clips" option works just fine.

Thanks a zillion for taking the time to develop this plugin. 'Been using navi-x and US news for a couple of years now, all along wondering when Canadian content would become available.

ps. a note for newbies -
to avoid having xbmc unstable update every day, just unselect the ppa from the software sources right after installing it - it took me sometime to figure this out :p

atvuser Wrote:I'm using ATV2 and I'm unable to play anything from CTV or Global. I checked the logs and it seems to always fail with this line:

20:46:39 T:134959104 M: 88285184 WARNING: HandShake: Server not genuine Adobe!
20:46:39 T:134959104 M: 88285184 ERROR: RTMP_Connect1, handshake failed.

I've seen RTMP mentioned above, am I to assume that it is not currently functioning correctly on ATV2, or am I missing the correct version of a dependecy?

I use an ATV2 running the latest stable build and I am still able to play everything from CTV and Global (tested just a few minutes ago). Are you running a nightly build or the latest stable?

Can it run on xbox? - muscleOlove - 2011-04-13

Please excuse the newbness of my question, but can I use this with XBMC on xbox? I'm still running two oldschool xboxes and would really like to get this addon running on at least one of them.

I know xbox support has been dropped and that xbmc4xbox.org is where I should be looking (and I have), but I recently came across the icefilms.info addon that has been slightly modified (as I understand) to work on xbox and it does wunderfully. ref: (http://www.xbmc4xbox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1680). It gives me hope that COD could work on xbox although I have gone through this whole thread and haven't found any mention of xbox suport.

BTW, I'm running XBMC4Xbox 3.0-r30833

So, is it possible?

TIA

- andre_pl - 2011-04-13

Unfortunately I don't have an original xbox to test it with, but if you try it out and post your debug log (does xbmc4xbox have that at least?) I'll take a look at it. it won't be easy to debug without access to the xbox though.

- muscleOlove - 2011-04-13

OK. I'll do what I can. Can't seem to get it from repo, so I got andrepl-plugin.video.canada.on.demand-0ab5fe9.zip and extracted. Renamed the plugin's directory to canada.on.demand (or else it's too long) and uploaded it under plugins/video. Any hard coded paths in the script? Should I rename it's folder to something else?

Script fails. I'll try to post the debug log.

i'm running xbmc on windows so i guess i won't be watching family.ca anytime soon...

keep up the good work. just made a small donation to the project. hope it helps out.

cheers

ask, donate, and ye shall receive ;-)

i've been using librtmp-r568 for two evenings now on my kitchen's netbook.
  • it works great. just tested family.ca, you should be good to go;
  • resuming after a fast-forward bugs out sometimes.

download (zip):
http://www.mediafire.com/?xgi24wbj2xboa2s

Drop the dll into C:\Program Files\XBMC\system\players\dvdplayer and don't forget to tick off "my librtmp is awesome" setting.

thanks renaudtrudel. i dropped that dll file in the folder you specifed, but what about the other .exe files that were included in your zip file? do i have to run those or install as an addon within xbmc? or... not sure what to do.

thanks for the help.

cheers

nope, just the dll; windows should have replaced/asked to replace an existing one.

teefer22 Wrote:I use an ATV2 running the latest stable build and I am still able to play everything from CTV and Global (tested just a few minutes ago). Are you running a nightly build or the latest stable?

I am running the stable build, but I was getting a 404 error when trying to update the packages:

W: Failed to fetch http://mirrors.xmbc.org/apt/atv2/./Packages.gz HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

I haven't been able to find a solution to this issue online either.

OMG! Thank you! I'm been looking for an updated dll for the past three nights and am glad i no longer have to see if i can compile my own version!

Hockey Night in Canada - Crispy3M - 2011-04-17

Has anyone been able to "Live Stream" Hockey Night in Canada on ATV 2?

I've searched every heading I can find with no Joy!

Thanks to the Developers... awesome for those of us in the boonies!

Cheers,

C3M

To clarify, I am able to watch cbc, foodtv, but not comedy, global, ctv, citytv, or muchmusic. I updated CanadaOnDemand today and I'm running the most up to date stable build of xbmc.

Does CBC offer this on their website?

Eldorado Wrote:Does CBC offer this on their website?

Hi and thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, they sure do... I was watching the game online with my Mac but was unable to get a stream with Canada on Demand to my ATV2.

I'm a total Noob with all this but I was able to navigate to the live streams and I think I even had it once, but in the end I just got an error about not being able to open the stream.

I've run through most of the other channels etc and they work very slick. If we could just get live streaming going this would be THE kick @ss addon!

Cheers,

C3M
