Guys, I need some help.
After upgrading from pin's image to new Sam's image, I have a problem with playing HD 720p movie (Alien Director's Cut [DTS]). If i remember correctly I could watch it earlier (on pin's image). Right now, it starts good. Plays for about 5 minutes, then the image stops and the sound still plays. After another minute or two, the sound stops and I can't do anything. Is it possible that it too good in quality? If anyone have any suggestions, please let me know.

This is a log from playing the file. I hope it'll help to check what is going on...

Do the script works for you?

Never used IceFilms -- so I merely wrote this blind sighted.

Why is icefilms loading from /root/.xbmc/addons/plugin.video.icefilms/default.py !

Your system is generating DDS fanart while your playing video. That might be what's causing latency. Unlikely to be 'too good quality', as it is 720p, and BCM70012/15 can play 1080p, but it could be a violation of L4.1 specification (ref frames, b frames etc)

It is running from there because that is the only place that I can put the repo zip file.

No. It isn't.

Put it in /usr/local/share/XBMC and you might have better luck?

Head over to a new Crystalbuntu specific forum. This allows wider discussion and to not be constricted to a single thread, meaning issues and queries can be better answered. This thread will not be used anymore

I have tried to post on your forum but i can not post.

Sam, I'm such a fan of your work but I'd really rather do my xbmc form reading/research here, on the mother ship, where I can get the benefit of many other developers' and users' insights, and not just one.

Please don't get me wrong, I love your initiative and wish that the forum gods would at least give atv/crystalbuntu it's own forum as I've been asking for since before the 'great schism'.

I hope that atv/crystalbuntu gets it's own forum (or sub-forum) and that you decide to continue to grace these boards with your knowledge.

I have a feeling that this thread will remain, just call it a hunch. But moving some of the stuff previously discussed shouldn't hurt.

Have been using crystalbuntu for a few months and has been working well. No clue why, but i just restarted my ATV and it stopped working... It is asking me for username, which I cannot enter (no keyboard attached) and this happened before. Any idea whats wrong?

It attempts to connect to Sam's server in order to check for updates. It seems to me that if it's offline or unreachable, then start fails. This could of course be improved as startup should never rely on an online service. If Sam some day stops what he is doing, then a lot of aTV's doesn't start any more. Sam, please correct me if I'm mistaking Smile

./disable_updates stops it going online. But it will work without this net connectivity

Where would I need to add this comment? Also, any other way to have it start if not online and still update if it is online?

- bleze - 2011-05-25

disable_updates is a script you need to run when logged in via ssh
