Doesnt xbmc support movies with audio in the format 5.1
??or do i have to make some changes in the settingsplease help

Yes, dts 5.1 is thoroughly supported. Check you audio settings.

Where exactly in settings u mean
im sure ive tried altering all possible settings by nnow...still wont work not until i convert the video files chosing mp3 as the desired output audio

Hey kida88,
In 'Settings - System - Audio Output'.
If it's set to analog, then DTS will be decoded to pcm and outputted depending on what you have set the 'Speaker Configuration' setting to (number of channels... like 2.0 or 5.1).
If you have Optical or HDMI selected, and the 'DTS capable Receiver' option checked, then you will get passthrough (bitstreaming) of DTS to your av receiver.
