i don’t think this would be too hard to code but i have no idea. it’s for sure possible. here is the deal...

i want to search various torrent sites. then be able to download them to a smb share on my computer. then i will be able to set utorrent to download automatically download torrents in **** directory. imo i think this would solve all the torrenting issues. we have browsers and we have browsers that will download the torrents to local area. all we need is someone skilled to put it all together.

the searching would be easy i think all we have to do is append the string to one of these urls:
mininova|http://www.mininova.org/search/?utorrent&search=
the pirate bay|http://thepiratebay.org/search.php?q=
torrentspy|http://torrentspy.com/search.asp?query=
mybittorrent|http://www.mybittorrent.com/?do=search&keywords=
isohunt|http://isohunt.com/torrents.php?ext=&op=and&ihq=
pointblank|http://bt.point-blank.cc/?search=

bittorrent|http://search.bittorrent.com/search.jsp?submit2=search&query=
google|http://google.com/search?q=

then we would display torrents showing the health (maybe hard) then download it to smb.

whets your thoughts? anyone have the skills to do this?

thanks,
mitchell

search the forum here... several python scripts already out there that do a subset of what you want. if you want more, beg the developer of the script or extend it yourself... either way, not as easy as you think it is.

just wanted to let ppl know that i have done a bunch of work in the torrent script field..
i have improved the client itself, made a gui wrapper for the client..
written (well butchered xrss into) a script that can read/download from virtually any torrent site that supports rss.. it also allows you to search mininova and tvrss using an onscreen keyboard.
also an rss scanner/retriever that periodically scans torrent feeds you choose then downloads and optionally automatically launches the torrent.. it is capable of keeping/incrementing episode #'s intelligently for both dates and season numbers (you can even use temporary search patterns entered via kbd.. it will override your permanent scans file)
the only thing that i need to do is figure out a way to integrate all of this together to intelligently keep track of download queues from boot to boot etc (simple, but i'm not positive how i want to approach it.. i foresee annoyances to the general public by trying to automate this too much..)

so whats the best way to make this available?

i always upload on xbmcscripts.com.

also, post a link to a download that you create (like a free dl site or such) since it can take a while for it to get posted on xbmcscripts.com

thanks for sharing with the community!

i've looked thru all the postings i could find, but nothing about this.

yes, there's some scripts that allow you to use the net and find torrents.

but, the thing i'm after is way more simple...
the thing is that i'm not that into python and scripting.

i would like some help or just a finger pointing in the right direction on how i can get a script for my .torrent files and able those the get downloaded with my xbox.

i want to fill a local folder on the xbox with my .torrent files and have a script that allows me to download them with my xbox...just click my .torrent file thats in the local folder and it starts downloading.
nothing more, nothing less...no online searching etc.

plz can someone help me?.....

peace!
...over and out...

- Livin - 2006-07-07

there are several torrent scripts... look on xbmcscripts.com

- Hybreez - 2006-07-07

yes affini, but nothing that supports the "local folder" way i wanted help with...have you read my entire post?

or do you know anything i don't about the torrent scripts on xbmcscripts.com?

- Hybreez - 2006-07-07

the search is over!
i've found the right script for me...

bitxbox - works great!!

if someone out there is working on it, plz pm me because i can't find any more info on the net about it.

peace, over and out!
