any good hacker here to add java support to xboxmediacenter?

why java?
because many people know the java programming language! and it can be a good way to add new modules to the xbox.

you can start here...
http://wwws.sun.com/software/communityso...nload.html
this is the source code of java...

loading a jvm would leave us with around 0 free memory. not going to happen. if you want to code add-ons learn python.

so are a lot of things. there's too much overlap with python though - we don't need multiple scripting systems, one is sufficient.

(I'll go to get the nick of PirannaOS... Big Grin )

The title is self-teaching: now that the Sun Java VM is OpenSource (or is going to be) and there are other JVMs, what about implement one on XBMC? It could be a module in the same way Phyton interpreter is and could allow to see more "XBMC apps" in the same way XBMC Snake is.

I know: XBMC is not an OS, Java is too slow and we have only 64mb RAM, but maybe it could be a good idea to have more elaborated games and apps on XBMC. Imaging playing to jDoom while you are using Azureus in the background... Yes: really cool multitask Wink
