I use openelec 6 pretty much out of the box on a pi and pi2. There are a few settings I tweak under video like sync playback to display and sometimes adjust display refresh rate on start/stop. Make sure you put back in your mpeg2 license and run the test command: vcgencmd codec_enabled MPG2. You can also take a look at the ServerWMC setup guide on the main forum page. That has many suggested settings. Hope you get it figured out.

I had glitchy TV initially (Apple devices running Kodi + ServerWMC), after experimentation I set the pvr setting in the kodi advancedsettings.xml and no more glitching. TV channel changes are much slower now but flawless playback.
