[RELEASE] Aeon Nox 4.0 (FRODO) only
Where can I read about features that will be in the new version?
Reply
Hi

When I click on a recently added movie or tv show, it flips and shows me episode or movie information and allows me to click 'play' or 'back'.
When I click play nothing happens. Is there a way to have this flip and option to not happen so that it just plays?

Phil - just tried the latest GIT, pulled about 3 hours ago on "3:10 to Yuma" without an NFO file (i have several test movies in a source that isn't scanned into library). It has a 7.1 PCM soundtrack. I am still getting a generic sound flag after playing the file, not the PCM flag.

If i create an NFO with PCM as its codec, it works.

One thing I noticed is that mediainfo seems to produce an odd value for PCM in its output for codec ID, "00001000-0000-0100-8000-00AA00389B71". I can use EMM to substitute PCM for this value, which is what it should be. i'm not sure what XBMC reads it into the DB if I don't provide an NFO.

here is the mediainfo report for the file:

I have also noticed some oddities with PCM flags with some recent GITs which might be related. Mainly that anything with PCM audio shows no flags without some intervention.

Out of interest, if you add the movie without an NFO, let XBMC grab the metadata and then "export" your library into separate files, what is listed as the audio codec for this particular movie? I'd wager something along the lines of "pcm_s16le" or "pcm_s24le"?

e.g.

Code:
<audio>
                <codec>pcm_s16le</codec>
                <language></language>
                <channels>6</channels>
</audio>

Whilst a "pcm_s16le.png" flag exists in the "C:\Users\<myname>\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons\Aeon-Nox-master\media\flags\audio\" directory, it still won't show for my movies with this codec by default. After a little testing I realised that that the skin attempts to match a flag where the codec is followed by the number of channels and thus expects a filename: "<codec><channels>.png"

It makes sense as there is already "pcm_bluray", "pcm_bluray3", "pcm_bluray4", "pcm_bluray5" etc.

I copied the "pcm_bluray6.png" flag twice and called them "pcm_s16le6.png" and "pcm_se24le6.png" and all my flags now work as expected.

If my theory is sound, for your 7.1 PCM track, try copying "pcm_bluray8.png" and calling it "pcm_s16le8.png" (and to be safe "pcm_s24le8"). Hopefully this should work without you having to change any metadata on your original files (or any future ones).

hi guys, just done a clean install of openelec 3.0.0 final (xbmc 12.1) and installed aeon nox 4.0.9, i then proceeded to do a import of my exported video library, this worked fine and i could see them listed under movies including existing posters, however when i try and click on the movie and select more details (might be the wrong name for this feature??) to show larger poster, actors, plot etc it does nothing, i have also noticed that i cannot force a update for movies, it just doesnt pick them up, works fine for tv series but not movies so i cannot add my latest movies to the library.

so im pretty sure im missing a script or addon but for the life of me i cannot work out which one it is, any help?.

thanks.

p.s really loving the changes in frodo and aeon nox, speed improvements are def present over eden and aeon nox 3.x

edit - sorry just one quick confirmation, my video sources are fine and the movies do play, so it isnt a networking issue

Blimey Phil, that was quick!

Good to see that "pcm_s16le<x>.png" is now covered by default Smile

I'm not sure whether you want to go for a "catch-all" and include "pcm_s24le<x>.png" flags? I personally only have a couple of movies with this codec and have absolutely no issue doing this myself but appreciate that others may not find it so straightforward. At the same time, I also understand you also probably want to keep unnecessary bloat down (not to mention you probably have 100 more important things to be looking at!) Smile

Thanks for a top skin and all of your hard work Wink

it´s no bloat since texturepacker will recognize that same textures are used so i won´t use additional disk space / RAM.
will add those too. thx.

btw are there also PCM 2.0 streams out there?

Ah, okay if texturepacker works that way then it makes sense to include them.

RE: PCM 2.0 streams, I actually have no idea whether there are stereo streams in the "pcm_s<xx>le" format in the wild, though I'd imagine it's possible. Perhaps the generic "PCM" flag you have would suffice in this case? (e.g. just duplicate it as "pcm_s16le2.png" & "pcm_s24le2.png")

Cheers for including the "24" flags also Big Grin

Created this FAQ page in github wiki fro you https://github.com/BigNoid/Aeon-Nox/wiki/FAQ

it has same contents as the faq link page on your signature difference is anyone can contribute and add/improve that information.

Is there a way to get a clean landscape mode without round corners and glass effects on top of the landscpe images? Also, the images are too big. Since they're upscaled from 500 to 588 (width) they appear blurry.

The glass effects are non-optional, however you can try the "Square" theme. It may well fit your needs better.

The wiki on that page was outdated, so thx, but I'm pretty astonished everyone can change that Tongue

You can of course disable the github wiki settings, but its documentaion and its a wiki so limiting this is up to you.

I am 100% against limiting community generated documentation by doing it in a forum post where only the poster has access or via documenst likes pdf or anything else, but thats me.

If you want to disable anyone with a github account access to github wiki its done via Gitbug>settings>Features

and check option

tbh I would leave it as is so anyone can hopefully contribute to better documentation openly.

Its a FAQ but I suppose I can just transfer the info over to xbmc wiki too. Seeing that the info on the forum thread is limited by the author of post only.

Edit its now in XBMC wiki too for anyone to improve upon.
