SAMBA-Server built-into XBMC (share SMB/CIFS from Xbox)
Thumbs Up
first of all, thaks for making xbmc, i also wanted to be able to stream vids and music from my xbox hdd without having to download them to my pc hdd. i can understand that smb server in xbmc is not a solution but how about this: you could make smth like the xbmc http remote control page and from there somehow to be able to open vids on xbox like streams mms: etc... with any media player. i mean a web interface to access and stream those files... i got this idea from this post that shows a way to stream files from xbox. http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/cgi-bin....+videos

is it posible to make a (smb) networkshare from xbmc? så that i can transfer files from an to the xbox?

currently xbmc has a client. to do what you are wanting would require a server. there was talk for a time but i think that was the extent of it. more than likely i would suggest the ftp for mass file moving about.

would be nice if you could share the folders on the xbox.

this gives easy access to the xbox, and the opportunity to play dvd's over the network.

this has been brought up maaaaaaaaaaaaaaany times before. as i recall there was talk of development but nothing solid.

this has been suggested before and has been determined that it requires too many resources. a better solution would be a xbmsp server. with this method all xboxes on the network would be able to autodetect eachother so there would be no end user configuration necessary. of course something like this would have to be able to be turned off, especially for those of us running high def resolutions. my suggestion for this would be to have the server built into a dll and have events toggle the server on and off which would significantly increase performance if the server side decided to play a video. by the same token this presents a limitation that if the server is streaming a video to another box on the network the other box would have to stop the video. i'm sure a creative developer could sort out this issue, but i have no idea what would be the best way to get around that limitation.

remember to increase the search period to a year or longer (at the bottom of the search window)

humor is, if you search for older there are more than a few on the topic and all of them have been placed in a single topic consisting of 122 replies, read, well read doesnt really count since its a combined total for all the topics that are moved.

not via smb, only ftp.
