On my Mac OSX install of RC1, the xbmc.log is full of DEBUG messages even though I have debugging off. I actually noticed this in B3 and just figured everything was being logged during the beta process.
I mostly do plugin development work on my Mac, so it's actually been kind of handy to have the whole log without enabling DEBUGGING, but I don't think that's the expected behavior.
Eden RC1 writes to log in DEBUG even if debugging is off
