MuscleNerd didn't say ATV couldn't or wouldn't be jailbroken. Instead he was just commenting on why it is harder to jailbreak. Or at least that is my interpretation.

More importantly though, could you explain more about your atv3 jailbreak?

I think its fairly safe to say that we can ignore his post ...

on-topic: historically speaking, a jailbreak on any ios device is inevitable. Lets hope it doesn't take forever.

I guess I'm missing a small piece of common sense but... I thought the Jailbreak was chip specific, so why so long for the update for 2nd Gen?

Jail breaking is a software hack. However different chips mean different software being targeted for a hack. On top of that, some chips implement specific DRM technology. I don't think that is what is going on with the ATV but perhaps someone more knowledgeable about the architecture can chime in.

With that said, the wait doesn't seem to qualify as "so long" yet. A few weeks or even a few months seems reasonable. Expecting a hack in just less than a week is an expectation likely to be let down.

2nd Gen as in ATV2? Or 2nd Gen IOS as in ATV3/ATV 2012?

The ATV2 will always be able to be tether jailbroken rather quickly if any devs really pushed it(days assuming they didn't change anything from last beta ). No particular reason its taken awhile, usually within a few weeks. I feel we are still in the window. Firecore is already showing screenshots. Really an untether JB is the only practical way for the ATV2, I don't like dragging a laptop over to the thing every time I reboot or a power outage.
