Not immediately... Especially since there's no (or only very basic) UVD support in the opensource driver.

Will take quite a while.

* Netgear WNDR3700, OpenWrt Attitude Adjustment 12.09 :: HP Procurve V1410-8G switch
* OpenELEC 3.0.1: Zotac Nano AD10, Sony KDL52-NX800
* Debian Wheezy x86_64: Phenom II X4 980 BE, HD6950, Dell U2312HM
* Debian Wheezy x86_64: Celeron G530, NFS/MySQL/DLNA/ZFS server

New Version available: 2:11.0~git20120324.1656-0800300
- rebase: 99% Eden + PVR
- XVBA: complete redesign
- lower CPU usage on low end systems, e.g E-350, E-450

Is it still needed to use your version on the E-350 (my HTPC) ?
As the final EDEN states:
"And now even AMD devices are supported for GPU video decoding in Linux to some extent, thanks to the inclusion of VAAPI." (http://xbmc.org/natethomas/2012/03/24/xbmc-11-0-eden/)

Eg, is the xvba support in XBMC Eden final as good as in your build?

There is no xvba support in any stable xbmc version.
It exists a wrapper for xvba, which is not anymore developed since June last year. With vaapi and this wrapper the eden release uses the UVD of the AMD card.

We had important reasons to develop our xvba only version. But you can give it a try and compare yourself, concerning cpu/load, stability, 24p stuff and so on.

Ah you see the "to some extent" in the original message?

Regards,

it's working better than before, 50% cpu use with 720p files, but over100% with 1080p files.
So XVBA is still the best that happened to this little AMD APUs!!!!

I have to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for XVBA!!!! to fritsch, wsnipex and whoever is involved!

....but right now i've got the problem, that after the update, my music files won't be played.
I only hear noise over the HDMI output. Videos are fine, stereo and dolby digital, only music files are concerned.
i've got an ASUS EeeBOX 1021 with an E-450 Processor.
i'm not shure if it's an Eden problem, does xvba even affect the hdmi audio?

@XanomalieX:
Do you have libmad0 installed?

Ah, the main contributor and superior codemonkey is Fernetmenta. Whithout his coding skills, no xvba :-)
