[Started build thread here

I've got an Antec HTPC case and PSU along with 2xWDGreen 2TB drives so I think I'll give the A8-3870 build a go.

How many years use or what has to change for this build to be outdated?

I'll be using this with Denon 3312 and Panny 65VT30.

Is the PQ on parr with PS3 playing back BD? 3D?

As long as it meet your needs, I wouldn't worry about outdate. New electronics are will always around the corner......

With proper configuration, HTPC PS/AQ are on par with PS3 and XBox.......

Panasonic 65vt30 is awesome....being trying to pick one up. How is it?

I finished my build over the weekend and everything is running great. Thanks eskro and bluray for the help! I'm having a little difficulty getting HD audio to bitstream from Win7 to my AVR but that's off topic here.

My question has to do with the case fans. I picked up a couple of 80mm fans listed in eskro's other thread. I didn't realize that the only way to control fan speed using the A75M mobo was to get a four pin case fan (which I believe is the same as a PWM fan). The mobo only allows for one speed controlled fan which should be fine as my case isn't running very hot. Does anybody have a recommendation on a 80mm PWM case fan that is relatively quiet? I have the ML03 case.

Another option: should I possibly look at a fan controller to go with the fans I already purchased? If not I can re-use the new fans in my desktop so it's not as if they'd go to waste.

Last option: is a case fan a necessity? I don't game, the setup is for playing media and browsing the web. Using a SSD, silverstone 400W PSU, and hyperx blu DDR3. What temps would i need to keep the mobo and case under to go fanless?

i have this setup and added one fan. the asrock comes with a utility that has controls for the cpu fan which i have it turned down to 5 it also has a control for a case fan which i also have turned down to 5. The case fan never turns because it runs so cool 45-50c.

my opinion there realy is no need to add additional fan

Nice, I was hoping to get away with one case fan. What fan did you go with? Looking for one that I can use with the mobo speed control function.

This one "ENERMAX UC-8EB 80mm Case Fan" is rated at 14dBA. It's probably the quietest 80mm fan.....

I'll check when I get home but I'm pretty sure it only has a three pin to four pin adapter (to plug into a cable off of the psu). The mb needs a fan with four wires in order to control the fan speed. Otherwise changing the fan speed in bios doesn't actually do anything.

I've found a few they may work. Just wanted to see if anybody had experience with it given that many here seem to have purchased the A75m.
