Since it is12dBA, you might not need speed control either.....(2012-03-29 23:07)bluray Wrote:I'll check when I get home but I'm pretty sure it only has a three pin to four pin adapter (to plug into a cable off of the psu). The mb needs a fan with four wires in order to control the fan speed. Otherwise changing the fan speed in bios doesn't actually do anything.(2012-03-29 22:28)lath19 Wrote: Actually I purchased two of those. They weren't as quiet as I'd like and I was hoping I could use the fan speed control on the mobo to reduce the rpm and noise. Unfortunately the mobo can only control case fans that have four pins (not molex). So that's what I'm after now.The fan in my link can be 3 or 4 pin.....
Something like either of these:

Below is a pic of the mb with a four pin fan plug.

I've found a few they may work. Just wanted to see if anybody had experience with it given that many here seem to have purchased the A75m.
Oh, thanks to the link to hd audio. I'll check it out tonight!

(2011-11-18 08:36)eskro Wrote: Eskro, I am almost done purchasing the components required for this build. Does buying 2x8GB RAM hurt or 2x4GB should be enough? My requirement for using this build is for regular purposes... like watching HD movies, movies from my HD camcorder, record on-the-air programs and view it later (like DVR) using HDHomeRun Tuner etc. I am also thinking of adding a blu-ray writer to this build to record HD movies from my camcorder to blu-ray media (just as a backup), watch HD movies (From blu-ray media) etc. I hope this should roughly give you an estimate of resources needed. One last question: Recently I bought 'Lenovo Multimedia Remote Keyboard N5902'. This should work with my HTPC. Right? Thanks! |

I put the new CPU cooler in today so my build is finally done. Thanks again for your help.
ASRock MB-A75M ($75) AMD A8-3850 APU ($125) Silverstone ML03B ($65) Silverstone 400W PSU ($49) Patriot Memory Torqx 2 Series 64 GB SSD ($65 after MIR) Kingston Technology HyperX Blu 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 CL9 ($41) Scythe Big Shuriken 2100 ($53) Logitech K400 ($40) HP MCE Remote & IR Receiver ($21) Coolink PWM Case Fan ($13) Total = $547. Slightly more than I originally wanted to spend but it was well worth the money. The case fan and CPU cooler are ridiculously quiet with the speed scaled down and everything runs nice and cool. Plus I was able to use the stock APU cooler in my desktop which reduced noise as I was able to take advantage of the PWM function.

@lath.....
Very nice and very powerful HTPC....you'll enjoy it for a long time. If you're ready to mess around with XBMC for bitstreaming HD audio, you can check my signature...... >Alienware X51- do it all HTPC >Simplify XBMC configurations >HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio! |
