[Mini-ITX] Intel Core I3-2120T, 2x 2.60GHz + HD2000 35W (crazy low power)

This might be the best 35W XBMC HTPC you can build at this price. It is crazy that it can do everything (full 1080P video, bitstreaming HD audio, etc) with only 35W..........

Image
Case/PSU: Antec ISK 300-150 Black Mini-ITX 150W PSU ($73.91)
CPU+iGPU: Intel Core I3-2120T, 2x 2.60GHz + HD2000 35W ($123.99)
MOBO: ASRock H67M-ITX/HT Socket 1155/ Intel H67/ SATA3&USB3.0 ($109.99)
SSD: Crucial 64 GB m4 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive SATA 6Gb/s ($79.99)
RAM: Kingston Technology HyperX LoVo 4 GB Kit (2x2GB Modules) ($38.74)

Total: $426.62

I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

Kool set-up Blu..... but a few questions?

1. Why the Antec ISK300-150 over the Antec ISK-110 Vesa?(Since CPU power consumption is only 35w)

2. Is the 2120T that much better than the 2100? Both have HD2000 Graphics. Unless you chose the 2120 strictly due to it's power consumption or the fact that it is a newer processor. Y not stick with the cheaper 2100 until i3 I.Bridge is released?

Antec ISK300-150 is cheaper on Amazon......and yes, the Antec ISK-110 is another option for this build.....

It is strictly for low 35W power consumption.....and yes, there are powerful iVy's with 35W but it's very expensive.....

this is a interesting build. I'm after an mini-itx Intel setup. is it worth waiting for the ivy bridge to get hd4000? how much extra £ would I be looking at?

The 35W Intel iVy Bridge is not cheap- 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7 Processors. Maybe, when they release the 35W i3 iVy Bridge it might be cheaper.....you might see it in Q3.....

For this discussion, is there a 35W AMD that can compete with i3-2120T?

Any news on the Trinity chips lately? I heard May as a release date but we are approaching half-way through the month with not much word.

I am waiting to see the price vs. performance on these and/or see how much the current models drop in price once the Trinity is released.

A6-5400K or A8-5500 here, depends on $

Yeah depends on the cost for sure but the A8-5500 is what I have my eye on as well.

Hopefully the FM2 socket mobo's come out around the same time.
