[WINDOWS][PATCH]Bitstream output of HD audio formats
I have tried that also already but didn't work. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Could it be your HTPC is missing this- Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)........

If it can bitstream HD audio with other media player, it should be able to bitstream HD audio with XBMC......

>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!
I do have that installed and bitstreaming HD audio does work in XBMC just everything except TRUEHD. DTSHD works fine.

That's weird......you can turn on the log and Pastebin it here.......

Un-install XBMC (wipe out XBMC entirely), and re-install it fresh......you can try the latest nightly build from here- XBMCSetup-20120528-64fd446-master.exe 28-May-2012 09:57 ......and select the proper audio output in XBMC settings/system/audio output.....

^^^ you would no longer have this patch - if you do the above any questions in this thread about this patch would be irrelevant.

If I have been able to help feel free to add to my reputation +/- below - thanks!

DDDamian are you suggesting that I do as the poster suggested? Or are you simply pointing out that his response was not an relevant one? Also where would I find the log dump another poster suggested I paste?
@clark kent - just pointing out that if you want to use Daniela's patch (what the thread's all about!) then installing a nightly version will overwrite it.

The log will be under c:\users\<your user name>\appdata\roaming\xbmc and is called xbmc.log.

Make sure you enable debugging, exit, try a TrueHD file then exit again. You can open the log in NotePad. Post the log by pasting the data at pastebin.com and copy the link to a post here.

Bad driver or driver settings - format not supported - try delete the RealTek driver and grab Catalyst Control Center 12.4 drivers (or at least the HDMI audio driver from it). Then make sure you have enabled Exclusive in the Advanced tab of the audio device:

Code:

Ouch.

We have had many many issues like this where users have driver issues. Maybe Daniella can sticky a small FAQ right where the download link is so that we can cut down on these trouble reports. Just a thought.
I orignally came from those drivers and was still having issues and that is why I switched to RealTek. I will try changing back to the AMD hdmi drivers and do a log dump that way. I dont want to change over my video and catalyst just because that was causing other issues with my system, like handshake problems with my HDMI.
Thanks DDDamian that really helped out. I removed the RealTek drivers and updated with the AMD drivers and the TrueHD audio is detected and working. The only issue remaining is that while 7.1 audio is working and selected in windows and selected in XBMC. XBMC is not outputting 7.1 audio but instead 5.1. Do you have any thoughts as to why this would be occurring? Once again thank you everyone for all your help.
