I am also seeing the same looping issue. Could it have anything to do with the allmusic.com website change? I notice they redid the website completely.

I'm only working some days with music in XBMC....
what are alternatives best scrapers for artits and albums?

I tried musicbrianz and last.fm....seems not so good...
especially on album information these both find or provide nothing.

Bladerunner there isnt one ..yet , for artist's Olympia has come up with "Universal scraper " available in the official repo. That uses data from allmusic/ lastfm/musicbrainz and I have tried it and is good but sadly nothing there for albums.
We will have to wait to have allmusic scraper fixed
Olympia BTW is that a Dalek ( your avatar I mean )

musicbrainz for albums currently the best out there. grabs premium covers from fanart.tv.
...and yes. for artists the universal scraper is the way to go. dont bet on allmisic scrapers.

Musicbrainz scraper works if I individually go to each album and refresh, it will pull the info/coverar etct for that album. But when i run a full scan for an entire artist, universal scraper gets the artist info perfectly, but when it comes to the albums musicbrainz scraper doesn't scrap any info

Use the Universal scraper

Is there a way to disable/get rid of these scrapers altogether? I'm sick of warning messages about them after boot that offer to disable them only to reappear every time I turn on my HTPC.

Once you disabled them they should not re-appear asking again.
You can remove them from the userdata (wiki) folder
