Release TV Guide - with XMLTV and streaming support
Quote:Hi lifeforce,
Can you send me your xmltv file and one of the logo files, then I can take a look.
As for the hardcoded .strm, you can change that in the gui.py file. What kind of file are you trying to play? - I would think live tv is always a stream, so perhaps you can just put your stream URL inside a .strm file and use that.

Tommy,

I found the code where I can change the file extension. Is it possible (I don't know anything about Python or scripting) to add additional file extensions? My set up is such that there are http streams which the pap/dvd players refuse to play but VLC has no problems doing so. Therefore, I have XBMC setup so that each file extension is played by the proper (external) media player.

Here are the logo and xmltv files your requested:
logo xmltv.xml

Thanks!

Living in Australia and use WebGrab+ plus to get .xml from Croatia, Serbia etc. but have issue with time correction in .xml How to correct 8:30 difference beetween Europe time and Australian time?
Reply
Hi Sasa1965, I think you can correct the time using the grabber. I'm not too familiar with this though. I think it was discussed previously in the thread.

I have been working on the improved stream setup. Take a look at the screenshots below.
The format for the addon streams is in windows ini file format, like below.
So if you want support for your favorite streaming addon please find these URL's for me.

[plugin.video.dr.dk.live]
DR1=plugin://plugin.video.dr.dk.live/?playChannel=1
DR2=plugin://plugin.video.dr.dk.live/?playChannel=2

Let me know what you think.

Timezone corrections should be handled by your xmltv grabber... Which one are you using?

I'm using XMLTV source from www.m.tvprofil.net or http://tvprofil.net/ timezone and need timezone correction setting because I live in Australia. Using WebGrab+ Plus grabber.

Tommy, This looks awesome and exactly what I was hoping the add-on would eventually include. Any idea on when it will be available?

Hi guys,

I have uploaded a test build with the new stream setup dialog. (v1.3.90)
http://tommy.winther.nu/script.tvguide-1.3.90.zip

It works best with Confluence, some of the text is not showing in other skins, I'll work on that.

let me know what you think and please help me with making the addons.ini file I talked about earlier.

I was wondering if you guys could help me. I love the addon but I am having a problem getting it to launch the mypremium.tv streams via a strm file.

Im am trying to luanch the sportdevil app via tv guide using the example strm below.

plugin://plugin.video.SportsDevil/?mode=1&url=title:Stream%202&type:rss&genre:TV&director:SportsDevil&icon:http%3A//mypremium.tv/i/types/905564aaa21ce6e8c242ab76e7d02791.png&cfg:mypremium.tv.cfg%40Catch&definedIn:mypremium.tv.cfg&url:http%3A%2F%2Fmypremium.tv%2Fem%2F13%2Fs2.shtml

The 1st time I add the strm it loads the channel, plays fine but displays the " one or more channels failed to load message ". Once I exit the stream and try to open it again it displays the " Playlist, can not find the next item to play " message and hangs in buffering.

Is there anyway around this ? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Tomy,

I update to ver. 1.3.90 but I dont see any changes. I uninstall old v.1.3.5 instal new restart xbmc but I cant see any diference. ?? It is in this ver. addon like u show on picture or.....
Anyway I have problem. For TV Guide make .xml with over 50 live TV and point each channel to specific .strm file. Same TV channel also streaming wirh 6 hours dalay and I make one more .xml file for that -6 dalay and all new .strm file but problem is addon make in C:\Users\Sasa\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\userdata\addon_data\script.tvguide file named xmltv.xmltv and xmltv.xmltv.tmp and addon read always first file till I manually deleted that files.
Question is Is posiblle to make script or somehow is setting when I shut down Xbmc to that two files be deleted or will be best to addon recognise when new .xml is change.
Any idea?

Sasha

@twinther : First of all thanks for a very nice and useful addon, the last version works very fast.

Have some errors that occurs lately :

1 . When removing channels from the channellist tvguide craches. Upon restart of xbmc tvguide resetting the xmlguide back to basic, this occurs on all my platforms, Win7, Win8, Atv2 and Openelec (latest), ive submitted error reports so i suppose you are aware of this,

2. A general error occurs when starting channels but seems to be fake, the cannels starts fine after choosing not to submit error report, also apply to all the above platforms.

And last i have just a humble wishSmile : are you planning to support recording and scheduling in the near future? like SimpleTv?

Thanks in advanceSmile

Twinther,

I just recently came back to tuning my XBMC setup and after being linked to TV Guide addon, can honestly say this is hands down the best mod I have installed in the past 8 months or so. I am trying to cut overpriced cable and the Pseudo TV mod is a great start, but using this for various streams is going to make it much easier to do so.

I signed up for a few streaming sites today, and just have a few questions if you would be able to chime in.

1) I picked up Futubox (despite it having pretty crap reviews) and so far have been thoroughly impressed by the quality of it. They unfortunately don't have any official XBMC addon though, so I am working to integrate it into the TV Guide addon instead. They provide both an .m3u playlist which has the channel streams, and an .xml file for the EPG guide for each individual channel. As this doesn't really seem to integrate completely with the way TV Guide is setup, what would be the best way to handle this?

EPG Data for channel 59 - http://futubox.com/channels/59/programmes.xml
TV Channels in XML Format - http://pastie.org/4138138

2) Does this support any way to pull channel data from multiple sources? Such as if half my channels come from Futubox and half from somewhere else, can the EPG Data come from separate locations?

Thanks again!

Short answer would be no... I would create individual strm files for each channel, then setup the EPG data for each channel using the xmltv grabber of your choice.

I recomend you to use mc2xml for combining different xml sources, just use the setup described in post #50 in this thread, it works like a charm Smile

Thanks for the help guys Smile After what was recommended, I now have this setup and working beautifully. I used mc2xml along with post #50, and put each stream in an individual file, and I couldn't be more pleased.

*Edit*

Hmm, I am using the exact instructions in #50, but Option 18 (sky satellite) doesn't seem to pull the EPG Data from the Sky Movie Channels HD, FX HD, MGM HD, and MTV Live HD. I am inclined to just set those to pull from the SD listings, but as I am OCD, just curious if anyone else has/had this issue?
