[RELEASE] PseudoTV Addon: Virtual EPG and TV Channel Surfing Script
Hey Jason,

http://pastebin.com/mvDmpjLw

This is the german translation for the Plugin-Settings. If you'd tell me, where i find the rest of them, i would translate it, too.

//Edit: Ok, i see you hardcoded the strings. How about save it into language-specified xml-files?
Jason,

Tried the latest stable-pre but no luck so far. Even tried a complete fresh start with deleting all the settings and channels.
Seems like an unicode error. http://www.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=24580

I too would like this functionality, the best idea I can come up with (but haven't tested) is to give each show a hidden channel (i.e. it just shows House or 24) then build your 'light entertainment channel' by telling PTV to insert X show channel at Y time, repeat for every show you want on that channel and then throw in some bumpers and filler content it can use to fill the gaps.

If it works you'll be left needing to manually set-up and schedule any new show though, which could be a bit of a pain.

There is a fair deal of difference between PTV's "BBC 1" and the real BBC 1 and that difference drops my in-law acceptance factor through the floor.
SOME1: are you using the latest stable-pre (updated a couple days ago)?

esk1: Hmm, weird, ever codec message is missing the last 2 letters of the file...ill have to see if the printing is correct on my system.

pisoj1: Yep, I'd be happier if the EPG was faster, too.

Amelandbor: try the newest stable-pre, I fixed this issue a couple of days ago.

I actually did try the newest stable-pre, just to be sure installed the latest version again.

I did a full channel restore and now it seems to be working even after I exit and relaunch, I'll have to see if it continues to do so for a few days.

Jason,

I thought the programmers said that they put special coding in XBMC just for cases like yours? Seems like they did make it worse instead improving performance.

Too bad. Guess I'll stay on Dharma forever.

Mark

Eh, the change they made didnt seem to speed anything up for me. Me extensive use of graphics is outside the normal use for addons, though, so I guess I can understand it not being a high priority for the developers. I am always trying to speed up the damn EPG, though, so maybe I'll stumble upon some great solution.

yes, I am using stable-pre release 2.1.0-48.
thanks.
Hello Jason,

i've got a little problem: i've got two playlists, one for movies and one for tv shows. In the playlist for the shows, i've got a interleave rule for the movies. In the EPG i can see the movies, but when they should be played, PTV seems to just skip it. If i choose the movie manually nothing happens either. Here is the log:

So to be clear this still is not stable with Frodo yet?
Jason,

This from another thread where PTV was brought up and the EPG problem. Are you using this method:

"Sounds like it needs to use the addControls() method in the WindowXML class using a list of controls rather than the addControl() for each individual control."

are you still having this issue? I am getting it on my android box, but not my windows. I am sharing channels with both, and using the pre-stable build.

If I force a channel reset on the android box, I get the error. If I force a channel reset on the windows, it behaves normally.

Once all the channels are updated from windows, I can run pseudotv on the android, however, 'odd' things happen.

The EPG is quite slow, and if I check it every so often, channels start to disappear. First channel 1, then 2, etc.

My channels are a combination of smart playlists, and directories.

Shouldn't that be .avi? If so see what happens when you rename it and try to play just it on its own.
